Bobbi, what's your facebook under? Your new page makes me want more chicks nooowww! Must be patient and see how the ones I have develop mmrrrrrr.....
I want more of your splashes though
I'm in the process of reading this entire thread and taking notes
I have a few cross questions if someone would humor me. I'm trying to figure out the poultry color calculator but it's slow going at them moment. Some of these may be a crap shoot as the results expected but I'm just curious what you all think. I have some new babies 4 of them are splash from Bobbi Porto I asked for possible lavenders or porcelains I'm not really sure who's who yet, but she did say she would try to pull me some lavender (possibly porcelain) splits and 2-3 of them are looking lavender in comparison to my lavender ameraucana bantams.
Please excuse any of my wonky wording.
What's the difference between lavender split that is splash and a splash that appears lavender (or porcelain)?
Lavender splash x white equals?
No way to tell what a white crossed to any other colour will give you! THere are many threads about recessive white.
Lavender splash x lavender equals?
This is lav/lav Bl/Bl paired with lav/lav bl+/bl+. Offspring will be lav/lav Bl/bl+: lavender and blue. Visually will look more like blue than like lavender, and will be difficult to impossible to distinguish between a blue who is also lavender and one who is not.
Lavender splash x splash equals?
This is lav/lav Bl/Bl crossed with Lav+/Lav+ Bl/Bl. Offspring will be Lav+/lav Bl/Bl: splash split to lavender. There will NOT be any physical appearance of lavender, but about half the next generation will inherit a copy of lavender.
Lavender splash x lavender splash equals?
lav/lav Bl/Bl + lav/lav Bl/Bl = lav/lav Bl/Bl
Porcelain splash x white equals? read up on recessive white and crossing it to other colours.
COMPLETELY unpredictable
Porcelain splash x lavender splash?
leaky lavender splash
This is the info she sent me if anyone is familiar with these names.
Sonoran Silkies Thank you for taking the time to answer those, I hear you're one of the color genetics guru around BYC. I hope to emulate you with your understanding one day
Since I posted I've been reading and reading and I'm understanding white a lot better now but I was unsure about the others. I appreciate your help
Thanks for the info. Can anyone else tell me if there Lav? page 279 pics. I was told that another splash turned out white from my eggs. Should i keep my adults together to keep this gene?
what color would you breed lav too? Black? what would the outcome be? I was told they would all be black carrying the gene for lav then to breed those back to lav and then you would get lav?
Quote:
A 50% chance of lavenders. You should get some nice blacks from the other half. These type of percentages are figured on hatching 100 chicks. Good luck to you!
