Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

You might want to give the Porcelain a desiger name next time, like some people have suggested. Call it Pastel, or Creme Swirl, that always works. If you keep them guessing lone enough, the judges will just judge the bird on type because most think silkie breeders are nuts anyway. LOL Good luck, personally I like the Porcelain color & breed it myself, don't really care what the rest of the world calls it, it is pretty!

GREAT IDEA! Do you have any photos of your Porcelains, Brody? I would LOVE to see them!!!!!!

While the porcelain silkies aren't true porcelain, real porcelain birds do have the lav gene in the homozygous state. The judge should know that, and should never have told you that lav is not a part of porcelain.

That was what my little brain understood as far as porcelain goes, and judge insist that was not porcelain, next time I will try a diffirent name, thanks Brody....what a great idea. LOL

??? Did the judge actually say that they should show NO lavender? Ot was it that there should be less of it? Get a copy of the standard for porcelain, ignore the required mottling for now, and THAT is what they should look like. Go to featherste or the old english site and look at photos of porcelain bird of those breeds; that will show you the proper distribution of isabel and lavender. Some porcelains are more lavender and some are more isabel. The best are a nice balance.
