Self righteous postal worker

I would be more than happy to take her job, and you would be welcomed with a big smile and "Hello, how are you today? What can I do for you?" "Oh, picking up chicks? Here they are, hope they all grow up big and strong."

Every time I get chicks or big birds, I get a lot of questions. Of course, I open my boxes RIGHT THERE, to check on my birds! Then I will pull someone out and educate the questioners and doubters! Just did it this morning with my beautiful mille fleur cochin hen that I got from Bantyman! She snuggled and trilled and won everyone's hearts, including a few customers.

Hey phoenixmama,

I'm across town over here in Peoria. I'm expecting 25 chicks from McMurray the week of Sept. 21. Sorry you had that experience at your post office. The people at my local office are usually pretty nice to deal with. Did you call the PO a day or two before and alert them that you were expecting chicks? I think I'll call my post office late next week and alert them and make sure they have my number just in case.

I'm glad you placed a complaint against her. That was rude and uncalled for. The people at my PO always are excited to see our chicks.....which is good cause if they acted like that I might lose it on them....lol

I understand what you are saying, but her "issue" wasn't with my preparedness for receiving my order of chicks. And for the record, this wasn't my first time picking up baby poultry from this PO. I've never had a problem with them, most of the workers are very nice and think it's cool when the babies arrive.

She apparently has a problem with birds going through the mail period, regardless of how prepared the recipient is.

Our post office called right away and asked if I could come get them. She said, They're really quiet and that worries me. So I went right down and we checked them out. Everyone was fine. Where I work I go to the Post Office there every day and she likes to see the birds come in. She was telling me about someone shipping 2000 chicks out and they ALL died. They were insured and she had to do all of the paper work on them. She said seeing the pictures of boxes and boxes of dead chicks was just horrible.

Taxpayers do not pay the salaries of anyone in the USPS. It is the only government entity that is completely self-sufficient. The USPS pays the salaries of its employees by the stamps and services it sells.

The clerk was unprofessional and should have kept her lips pursed. Unfortunately, some people are simply too stupid for their own good.

I would NOT call the postmaster. There is such a thing as the good 'ol boy system. Instead, call the USPS at 1-800-ASK-USPS. There will be an inquiry from the USPS at a national level. If you call the postmaster, your complaint may simply be swept under the table. I seriously doubt anything will be done about that clerk. Perhaps if there is a pattern of abuse or disrespect of customers, she may be given a letter of warning or even be fired. At least this way, the USPS has a record of the incident.

Wow, great idea!

Cowcreekgeek is right.

I've had problems with our local post office complained to the Post Master, who did nothing. Made a complaint through www.usps.com and actually got a response and apology from the post master.

Glad your chicks are doing good and I hope you don't have to deal with that rude clerk again. If you do tell her how sorry you are that there is no cure for her case of stupid.
