this is the recipe that I used and it makes a gel consistancy and the tiny blobs of soap do break down in the wash. It was very easy to make. To cool it down enough to put in jugs I sat it in my bedroom on the air vent for a couple hours and then poured it in the jugs. You do need to shake it well after you add the extra water. then again before you use it.

thanks, lmc9! this is diabetic sweet!

my family has actually been thanking me for switching.

i have one child that has very sensitive skin and she loves her sheets now...no more itchy scitchies!

i'm making the laundry & dishwasher powders for christmas gifts this year.
the dishwasher powder rocks. way better than store bought, and it is removing the hard water stains from inside my dishwasher...so can't beat that with a stick...

This is not exactly a recipe, but I noticed some uses for ginger here.

If you live in a warm area, you can grow grocery store ginger! I just take a hunk of gingerroot and break it into several pieces and plant it in clay pots. It can grow large enough roots to crack the pots over time so give it room if you're not going to harvest root regularly.

I love ginger tea so this trick has been really helpful to me. It's not an ornamental ginger but it's nice enough that I keep it on the front porch.
