Quote:
7 Bantam Cochin eggs in one, 7 Lavender Orpington eggs in the other. And I'll be loading a third one *ahem* with 6, maybe 7 Black Jersey Giant eggs later this week. (They were shipped today.) If I only get six of them, I'll put one of my own chickens' eggs in to make the 7.

Love those Brinsea Mini Advance incubators!

Sweetness!

I have 37 guinea eggs that were set in my bator on the 28th of August. I think I am going to have a staggered hatch. Two guinea hens went broody on the nest for a few days before I was able to rescue the eggs. (The mama's are only good at sitting for a week or so) I bought a brinsea octo 20 and the eggs are way too big to get all into the smaller incubator. I guess I need to buy some more chicken eggs.

This is an experiment for me. I am not the best candler on the block but I am hoping they make it. Looks to me like they are growing. At different rates, but heck I like a challenge! My four babies I hatched last month are happy and growing. They are a week old today! In two more weeks they should be able to go outside and meet their friends I hatched out at the beginning of August. Who knew hatching eggs was sooooo much fun!

thanks for the support about the duckie doos guys, I am SURE I will get whatever it is in time, now we have pinned the ducks in a HUGE 10x20 pen and will start letting them out in the day in a couple of more days and make sure they are going back in at night to stay safe from harm. I know that the culprit is either a fox or a coyote with a small possibility of bobcat but pretty sure it was the fox we have been seeing here for 8 months now. Darn it! Oh well cant wait to get the ducky eggs in the bator, there is almost NOTHING cuter than a duckling.... almost. I can't wait! we are up to 8 eggs will put in the bator when I get 14. 2 per day means 3 more days!

Either I am blind or every single egg was not fertile. I even check others she gave us that I did not put in to hatch, no fertile. How does she have that many roos and not have one fertile egg. On the other hand I cooked up a dozen of my eggs today and with one older roos and a few teens I had every single egg being fertile. No clue. sigh I should have just set my own eggs since my roo is a maran mix too but I was really hoping for a couple hens that looked like hers. Anyway day 10 candled all of them. There is nothing to see. Pretty sure the past 10 days were wasted. Afraid to toss these in case i am wrong though.

so to double check
I see an air sac, and I see the darkness of the yolk. On 2 of them a black dot is there but it moves around as I move the egg and there is nothing else visible. I even got a strong light to double check. There is nothing else to see at all. Sounds like duds huh
