Day 19, 2 FBCM hatched, 4 more pipped, 1 died after zipping, 14 eggs left. 12 BLRW, and 12 Araucanas should be hatching any day now
12 Lav Araucanas lockdown next wednesday and 6 silkies, 8 FBC X Blue marans and 2 NN frizzles go into lockdown Next Friday.

My hatch was successful! 6 of the 7 eggs hatched (I knew the 7th wasn't developing). I came home from work to find: 3 Splash Jersey Giants, 2 Black Jersey Giants, and one Blue. Pictures will follow tomorrow - too dark right now, with the red heat lamp over them.

Okay, I succumbed to taking one photo tonight:

It seems like all the new hatchlings gravitate to the food dish to sleep in it.

Candled the eggs tonight. Of the 10 eggs, only one looks like a quitter at this stage.

I've got 10 more days to go. I had 11 but one exploded.

I just had a first happen. The last egg has a live chick in it and it was due today. It had a weak chirp and I didn't want to loose it if I could help it so I helped it out. And what I saw was a big surprise. It had no skull. It's brain was totally exposed. I culled it. There is no way I could have helped that one. So sad and it explains why it didn't get itself out. So I got 2 chicks and they both appear to be cockerels. I thought one was a pullet but after a few hours I could feel the comb, it was laid down from being squashed in the shell. So I didn't get the pullet I need. But I did get two beautiful chicks. I'll just have to try again.

I have 12 adorable silkie chicks, from 30 shipped eggs I had 11 clear, 1 blood ring, 12 healthy chicks that hatched within 24 hours of each other on hatch day and switched the bator off this morning. Of the 6 left, they were all fully formed but never pipped. I wish I knew what went wrong, the only thing I think it could have been was that the humidity was too high but the ones that hatched are all perfect. It seems such a waste when they were so well developed.

Well we had the two blue/black Ameraucana chicks hatch in the night. My son and I stayed up to watch. It was wonderful to see. The two FBCM eggs are pipped....just waiting for zip/hatch. I will get some pictures when they are done hatching and fluffy.

does anyone know where i can find the thread about what when wrong with the hatch someone was putting together. with pics of eggtopsies and such? i have looked but i cant find the thread. i remember it being mentioned in the august hatch a long but now of course i cant find it. thanks all
