September Hatch-a-long!

Pics
Someone suggested the puppy training pads and I actually have those LOL so I folded one and set it over the shavings. They made a bit of a mess with their food. I'm not sure if it's just from running around, or if they are scratching and eatting it. But they seem to be doing well. Sleeping alot. Which I'm sure is very normal for 1 day old chicks.

I have a blue egg trying to hatch out now. It will be a NN/CCLB cross. I'll have to put a little blue band on it's left leg, so I will know it hatched from a blue egg after it finishes hatching out and dries off.
What bands do you use? I was wanting to band my chiken, but every band I look at seem to have bad reviews.

I bought mine through Amazon. I start with these for the young chicks. (They are actually called cable ties.) You can't put them on tight though, because the chick will outgrow them. You will have to watch before the chick does out grow before it get's too tight, and cut it off. Then you can put a new one on to replace the other one. I like these because you can tighten them to only what you need. Just remember not to put them on too tight though!

Just an update on my hatch before I go to get some sleep. I had one chick that hatched from a blue egg and is now sleeping and drying off, and now I have 2 more blue eggs that have cracks in the shell's, but those chicks are not out yet. No sign of hatching yet out of my light tan eggs yet.

Gutted - this hatch seems to be a total disaster! I had 1 marans hatch yesterday under one of the silkies and nothing at all from any of the cream legbars. Yesterday morning I had cheeping and a hole made in the middle of the shell from the 1 remaining egg in the incubator. I checked at lunch and no progress but heart beat seen. Mid afternoon decided to ask on here for help but discovered it had died. I think malpositioned as didn't peep into the airsack but in the middle. I started with 24 eggs so if I only get one I'm going to be devastated! Day 21 started about this time last night so now at the end of day 21. Are Cream Legbars late hatchers????? Will upload some pics in a bit.

The blue eggs that I have over here that have been hatching are from the Crested Cream Legbar hens that had my White NN/Breese mix rooster over them. I also checked a bit ago, and the 4th blue egg is hatching, plus now I have a tan egg hatching also.

Well, 4 out of the 5 blue eggs have hatched out now, and I already moved those into my brooder. 2 of them have the NN's, and 2 have the fully feathered necks. I am going to keep the 2 that are the NN's, but will try to sell the other 2 locally. One of those fully feathered necked chicks is white, and the other one is sort of brownish-gray with a white spot on the back of it's head (so thinking the dark one will be a boy). These are from my White NN/Breese mix roo over my Crested Cream legbar hens, and any females will lay those light green eggs.

I have 2 of my tan egg's that are in the process of hatching now, and 7 more that I'm still waiting for to hatch. On these one's, I am hoping to get at least one clean necked NN chick.

day 4 candle results
2 questionable
1 infertile and oddly enough not even an air cell, tossed
15 progressing nicely

so still have 17 in the incubator

Showing them the chick that hatched int eh incubator really improved the fertility rate lol

I have 2 turkey eggs that I put into lockdown this eve... one is already externally piped, I had them marked for the 7th...... the one that's piped is out of my younger hen so maybe an early Hatcher? The other is out of an older hen. Then again I could have messed the hatch day up. The one looks like it may be black. I will be happy with another black one.
