September Hatch-a-long!

Pics
Omygoodness that black/white chicky is sooo cute !!
I'm starting to freak out. This hatching fever is stealing my sleep time lol.
I candled my seramas, checked my calendar, at 5pm it was day 17 and they were darkdarkdark. All kinds of movement tho :) I've been trying to set up my janoel 12 inc the last couple days, but it's just not keeping very steady. I chickened out, will try it next time... ended up locking down my seramas in the 1600 inc, and I put my blue hatching eggs in the mini brinsea advance (hand turning cuz of the porous air-cell guy and the cracked one). Waiting to candle those again til day 7... should have baby serama pics in a couple days :wee

Good luck. Yes hatching fever will get the best of you when it's time for lock down I always check to see if there are pips like ever 5 to 10 mins lol :p. Hope your eggs hatch soon :thumbsup

Our broody is due any day now. She started with 5 barnyard mixes. We never candled them, at about day 10 I noticed one pushed to the side. Doing coop maintenance Sunday I put her out for a walk. She took a dust bath got some feed/water and was back on the nest in about 20 minutes. I did notice the same egg out of the nest. Both times she pushed it against the box so it’s still being kept warm... Sunday I noted one was broken, not sure quite what happened. It seamed to be pretty much cleaned up too? Only a few small bits of shell left. Until now I’ve been giving her just the all flock crumbles she was on. Planing on switching her to starter crumbles today or tomorrow. Thursday is day 21, anyday now!

I'm a hatching addict, too, so I'll join in on the September hatch as well. This will be my fourth incubator hatch. I'm slowly improving my hatch rates. Last batch produced 7 beautiful little Easter Eggers. Y'all have inspired me to set more.
My purpose in adding to my flock is an attempt to ensure egg production when the older hens molt. I'm selecting for the physical characteristics I find most desirable and selling at auction or giving away the chicks I don't wish to add to the main flock.

So I'm a couple of days in with my broody and she keeps getting extra eggs and pushing the eggs i give her out but when I take the extras away I put the ones I have her back in does that mean she don't want those eggs
