September Hatch-A-Long!

Total number is three now. It would have been four but one of them completely zipped and popped out and i think one of the parents accidentally squashed its head right when i came out. That or they pecked at it :( I am grateful I got ant at all though.

Awesome!!! I bet their adorable!!

They are so darn cute! For some reason chicks look a lot more adorable when they are hatched out by their own mothers and trying to hide in all her fluff. Plus i think they just look even smaller when they are right next to their parents.

so i hatched 6 babies in september :) yaa!! actually 7, but i died - he had an outside yolk and he kicked it opened. :( 7 out of 9 is not bad i think !!

i took the chickies outside this week, in their box for some fresh air. My adult chicken was hearing them and talking back.. Well.. she decided to go broody.

Since i was incing a new set of eggs this week, i gave her one to see what she would do. she scooped it up and sat on it. so i said heck- you can have the rest ! i dont need to run the electricity or stress over flipping eggs no more! hahaha.

she is sitting on 4 chicken eggs, and 12 duck eggs. 10 have something in them so far. Monday i will check again. That will be day 7.

woo hoo !!

this is my 3rd hatch cycle.

Does anyone here wait for an internal pip before doing lockdown? Read that you can candle and see a shadow in the aircell. I set eggs on Aug 31st 7:45am so lockdown day is Sept 18th. Probably gonna wait till mid afternoon to take out turner and raise humidity

I candled today (day 14) and all 8 had good movement. Aircells are starting to come down side of egg also.
