September Hatch-A-Long!

Well, I'm on lock down for my 19 button quail eggs. They are almost impossible for me to candle but one did look clear so we'll see. They are due to hatch in a couple days. Hopefully I get a bunch of pretty colors.

Should I be concerned? There's this neon green thing on the side of the egg. I have no idea what it is.

Is there a proper "area" of the egg where a chick pips? Just thought of this because I think one of mine has piped in a weird spot (1/4 from the top).

They usually pip internally through the membrane into the air cell, then from inside the air cell (on the bigger end of the egg), starting a hole and "zipping" around the outside of the air cell to pop the top off. It seems pipping in wrong places isn't too uncommon, though. I just had one today do that, missing the air cell completely. I did cave and help it along a bit after so many hours, but put the others at risk by opening the incubator. Did you mark the air cell, to be able to tell if it's pipping outside the line?

I had 2 that pipped WAY Too high this time and they were able to completely unzip the egg and even managed to pop the top off struggling, but they were not able to get their head popped out of the top of them I had to snatch them out real quick and break a little more egg away so they could struggle out.

So I believe I have a situation. I have 12 eggs due on the 12 however my kids were so kind to put additional eggs in the bator and I don't know when. Sigh what would be the best way to determine due dates
