September Hatch-A-Long!

I also have a silver sebrigt....sparky. he is the troublemaker.

And sly little devils too lol. Today I hatched a silkie mix chick. I was assuming it would be a silkie d'uccle mix but NOW I'm thinking my little silver sebright roo Beasley had some special alone time with the hen lol. Never once have I seen him breed any of my hens either! Good job Beasley ;-)

My sebright is mounting hens and he's only 12 weeks old!! Doesn't even crow yet and mounted my standard ameraucana BACKWARDS yesterday!! She couldn't get him off!!!

Don't Sebrights die like, if you slap them-their down type of thing, that is what I have heard!
Epm Chicken: Lol...at least your Sebrights is smart...runs away before he gets hurt. :)

Any guesses on what your silkie mixes will be? My roo choices are sebright, d'uccle' silkie, old english game, or bantam cochin. My other roos are simply too big :-)
my roos are brown leghorn, white crested black polish, millie flur d'uccle bantum, slight on dark brahma (he is just starting to try mating...)

A polish x silkie would be cute!!! And don't count the brahma out lol. My little cohchin bantam was quietly breeding for at least a month before he EVER crowed and like I said...I've never once seen my sebright breed a hen and he is now a proud papa lol

Oh my lord!!! What do you use for a brooder?

Super high tech expensive plastic bins from Big Lots.

I don't even put lids on. No matter how big they get, they rarely jump out. But when they do, I don't mind a chick visit. They never jump out when I'm not home. There was one in my first batch that started jumping up on the corner of my bed every morning to wake me up.
