I'm on day 15 with the oldest eggs and day 8 for the youngest. Coldest night we've had this year and what happens? Power went out for 4 hours. I covered my incubator with towels within minutes when it was clear it wasn't coming back on but when I checked the temp when the power came back it was at 75 degrees.

They were doing so good! I really hope they didn't all succumb to the cold....
I think you will be OK..............One of my broodys made a decision to sleep with the rooster
Leaving her eggs all night. ( I don't know why?

) Then went back to her cold eggs.
They hatched fine....Good Luck

i use a easy turn method lol
egg cartons attached to pvc pipe which sticks out the side of the bator so i can turn a whole doz from the outside. (my bator can do up to 6 doz..)(is sat up for 4 right now)

had another baby hatch last night...MJB... 2 more pips this morning! I love them all but I'm really looking forward to the lav frizzles I'm expecting!!

cleaned out the bators last night...2 dozen eggs out of 3 bators went to the trash...found another stinker that makes 5 from the shipped buff laced orpingtons that the breed still swears were fresh!!

I have a bunch of breeds in the bators including my first attempt at turkeys so I'm to busy parenting chicken babies

I have 4 bourbon reds in my incubator. First turkeys. I also have 6 red golden pheasants but they still look clear. :(
A question:

Which in your opinion is a better method of egg turning? In a carton tilted side to side or rolled on the incubator floor?
I am too lazy to turn every egg by hand and too cheap to buy an autoturner. I put them in cartons and tilt the incubator but I leave it tilted in one direction and rotate the egg cartons.

in an electric egg turner...lol so I don't forget to turn them!!

Thanks but I can't afford an auto turner! :) I'll do the egg carton thing then for lockdown i'll put them on the floor.

That's what I do except this time. I left a batch in the carton for lockdown because I forgot to put it on my calender and had to adding during a hatch.

To make it as quick as possible, I left them in the carton. Some people say it works better but the one time I tried, not one hatched and most were positioned wrong. But that could have been from shipping. They were shipped on their sides and loose in saw dust. So another try at hatching in the carton. They looked to be very active when I put them in. Although they are being used as a jungle gym by the chicks hatching right now.
