one of my little black silkies...just born Thursday....got up today acting dizzy...now it seems it's dying

Is he/she acting lethargic?

Ok the bator is started for my second attempt tomorrow I followed my moms advice for the first round and 0-30 eggs hatched it was a still air bator so I found an awesome deal on a 1583 picture window gqf bator for $63

and its turbo fan so we are gonna try this again and I'm relying on you "peeps" to help me

lol. Ok so I am gonna pick up a hygrometer tomorrow am so I can monitor the humidity (another thing I didn't do with the first hatch

.) So my question is how do you read the hygrometer (its the gqf model) and what do I want the humidity to be for the first 18 days and then the lockdown period. I'm open to any and all advice (I have about 40-50 chicken eggs going in)

candled all my eggs....I was thinking I didn't have anybody due until the 11th but I discovered that I have several due no later than this weekend and some of those look sooner....Blue cochins and laced buff orps

Yeah got my eggs last night to go into the bator tomorrow hopefully with better luck this time

and of course took the kids and they had chicks for sale so we ended up coming home with 3

2 banty's and a silkie they are so freaking cute!!!

they will be spoiled just like "lolly" our turkey

Hi all quick question for a first timer. I set eggs 8/17, 8/19, 8/20. When should "lockdown" be and will the eggs suffer from not being turned? I got an extra bator from a friend but it will not keep the temp steady. Not sure I can get another shipped to me before lockdown.thanks in advance

I have seen it, they say heart issues. And common in silkies and other bantams. Breeding to get the smallest bird leads to heart defects. Dont know how true this is, but it sure made me feel better. I felt like there was nothing more I could have done, and it was not something I caused. I have had 2 this yr so far. Both I held until they took their last breath.
