September Hatch-A-Long!

Holy cow!! I just did the craziest assist ever. I have one lonely olive egger in the hatcher (Day 21). It got unplugged and the temp read 89.2 so I took it out real quick, saw no movement and opened the top. Nothing but butt and leg. But it was still alive. I put water on the membrane and spotted an eye. It was head between thighs sort of sideways and upside down. I found a place with no major veining and made an artificial internal pip where I thought the beak might be hiding. All I saw was leg and wing. I peeled shell and wet the membrane with coconut oil and found the beak was pointing down between the thighs at THE major vein center. I went back to the top and cut between and around all the tiny veins to avoid them and opened the top enough that I could use tweezers to reach down and pull its beak up to the fresh air. Now its back in the hatcher to hopefully survive against all odds. Not even a cup of coffee yet, LOL! There was only one teeny tiny drop of blood with all that cutting so I am hopeful.

Looks like #1 found itself a snuggle buddy!!!

Awesome assist! You really know what you're doing! Good luck to baby.

I have only two eggs that survived from a dozen shipped, and both eggs are visibly wiggling around with 4 days to go. On candling, one is still swimming around with plenty of room, while the other looks totally huge and barely able to move with a tiny air cell. :/ I'm nervous, this is my first attempted hatch (bronze breasted turkeys which will be pets). Using a Brinsea mini advance.

ok so hubby just finished explaining just how low the temps were when he found them... one bator was 86....hacher was down to 92 and 89... so what are my chances??? i dont think it was for very long. i candled an egg thats on about day 7 and still had movement...

the first 10 days are difficult for embryos, that being said I don't believe that temp drop will be an issue, at the most it will prolong you hatch date.

you sure have the issues with positioning!! crossing fingers for baby

DAY 7..WOOHOOOOO..that was the longest week ever. Now..to candle or not to candle. I want to so bad but my eggs are medium brown and ive read (in this thread of course!) that day 8,9,10 would be better. I just dont know if i can hold out another 2-3 days.

Any day 7s out there??? Please join in and help this impatient obsessed 1st time hatcher get through the next 2 weeks!

All my eggs are my own. Black Copper Marans roo with SLW, Wellies, GLW, Buff Orp, Australorp, BR, Cuckoo Marans, RIR, and a Red sex link

go ahead you won't hurt anything! but don't be surprised if you don't see much...when in doubt put it back in the bator!

I candled. Looks like we have 7 moving babies!!! 4 clear and 1 questionable. I didnt see clear air cells tho. I just dont know what im looking for i guess. I think 2 had good size air cells for day 7. I circled them with pencil so i can see if they get bigger.

This is the weird looking one. All the others have a straighter line. this one is very bumpy
