September Hatch-A-Long!

I candled. Looks like we have 7 moving babies!!! 4 clear and 1 questionable. I didnt see clear air cells tho. I just dont know what im looking for i guess. I think 2 had good size air cells for day 7. I circled them with pencil so i can see if they get bigger. This is the weird looking one. All the others have a straighter line. this one is very bumpy
Just going by the photos, you may have already done it in which case disregard. But, you have the light in the wrong end of the egg to see the air cells in the photos. You need to cup the flashlight and hold it up to the top (fat end) of the egg. So fat end up (usually in my left hand) flashlight pointed down ito the egg in my right hand. If I am tracing the cell I manage to do all of it with my left hand and draw with my right.

Here is a pic of how i candle one handed when I am tracing air cells. First with flash so you can see how I hold it and then in the dark so you can see the air cell.

HELP! My 2nd chick just hatched. Its still attached to the egg by what looks like an umbilical cord or something. And the chick that hatched last night is pecking at whatever has it attached?

i have a little giant still air as well and one thing you should do if you haven't is remove one of the red plugs so there is a bit of air flow...this will be very important when its hatch time for your eggs so the chicks have enough oxygen and not stale air. i may require more work to keep the humidity where it needs to be but i find its needed with the little giant bator..as theres not good airflow otherwise
Thanks! Should I remove one plug now, and the last 3 days remove the other plug as well?

What do you all use for candling?
I had an LED flashlight, but I couldn't see that well in my dark eggs (been hatching Marans lately).
So I ordered the Farm Innovations candler you plug in to the wall and it's worse than my flashlight.
I can tell if there's something in there or just the yolk. I can tell if there's a blood ring. But I don't really see the outline of the actual chick or the chick moving around like some people were talking about.
I've seen some crazy contraptions with a light bulb in a box type thing, but when I tried that the box got CRAZY hot really quick and seemed like it was about to catch fire!

Ok so it's day 27 on my duck eggs. 8 of 9 have pipped so far. I was wondering if the egg in the picture is normal. It pipped and then awhile later it has another "pip mark" but quite aways away from the first one.

One of mine did the same thing. It piped, sat for a few hours, piped again and when it zipped it went 1 1/2 way around the egg before coming out lol
