Do you mind sharing with me how you know the two on the right are boys???

Their combs. Seramas start showing their sex (usually) by 4 weeks. I've always been able to tell for sure by 6 weeks. The boys will start developing red combs and large wattles quickly. They will start crowing by 7-8 weeks.

Yes, if they are pullets, their comb will develop slowly over the next few weeks. The 9 week olds I rehomed last week had just barely started to get a comb. Seramas mature much faster than other bantam breeds. The pullets can start laying at 14 weeks - mine have all started at 15-16 weeks - and the males mature by 12 weeks.

yes, combs turning red. Many of my Serama boys have shown red combs at 3 weeks. Of course, some don't show for 4-6 weeks, so you cannot be sure on those. But you can be sure of the ones that are turning red and brighter red with age.

And some days the comb may not be as red as on other days. But once you have seen the red comb, you can be sure it is a male.

Harder to be definite on the pullets. But usually I say pullet for sure when no red has developed in the comb by 7-8 wks. Once in awhile you will get a very late developing male but not often.

Not an exact science by any means but helpful.

good info to know! ZooMummzy thanks for advice on no special hatching considerations. I keep reading conflicting info and I wasn't sure. Taking brooder over to my Dad's this weekend to set it up. I am praying they don't hatch while we are on vacation in MI over Labor Day...hang on little serama's until I get home I want to see you hatch!

My friend Paula in WA has her Seramas hatching right now! One little yellow one is out and I think she has 5-7 more to go (not sure how many actually went into lockdown. She got 9 eggs I believe. I love hatching weekends
