In lockdown day 20 on CDS, they need to get hatching, lol!!!
I'm sorryI went 3 rounds with hatching seramas this winter and have ended up with 9 out of 11 surviving after hatching. I feel pretty happy about those results, but being a first-timer this winter it was kind of hard to lose those cute little chicks, so I'm taking a break from hatching seramas for a bit. I might pick it up again late spring or in the summer. Right now I've got 7 cochin bantams from luckypickens that made it to lockdown and am hoping I get at least one of each of the 4 colors that made it. Just a bit ago I checked and had another 2 pips, so I'm at 4/7 now. I was hoping someone else would be hatching today to keep me company... I'm so nervous this time around!
I hope you hatch out a bunch of healthy little babies! Especially a Gino baby... mine has so much attitude it's unbelievable! I'm pretty sure it's a boy, but desperately hoping a girl. I can't imagine that chick with raging male hormones in a month or two... I will go get a pic right now![]()
11 squirming little eggs officially in lockdown! I candled and several are already internally pipped so I'm very hopeful for a good hatch...finally.
4 are from Alexis (Back Acher Farms) - eggs from my August 2011 hatch babies she adopted and 5 CDS babies including 2 from Gino and 1 each Etienne, Abraxas and I believe Elliott. The other 2 are from Wyatt. He's my large Serama rooster I put with my mixed bantam flock. I'm very curious as to what will hatch from that pen!
If all goes well, I just might have Birthday chicks tomorrow![]()
