Dear Attack Chicken,

I am so sorry for your loss. I came across your thread sort of by accident (I have a sick rooster right now and was searching for answers) and read it from start to very sad finish. The others are right... you did everything you knew to do, and not even a vet with training and equipment could save her--so how could you have done? You were so devoted to her, and that counts for a lot. You made the life she did have on earth a very happy one, and many birds with longer lives would have traded theirs for hers in a heartbeat.

I know how painful it is for you... I hope you can take some small comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace and not suffering. I hope, too, that very soon the day will come that when you think of her, it is with a smile instead of with tears.

Blessings to you and the rest of your flock. Enjoy them while you can! Life is sometimes short, but always precious.

Lynn
p.s. I would like to make a donation toward her vet bill if that is okay with you. If so, will you please email me with information on where to send it?

My condolences. It's always hard to lose one.

She was a very pretty girl! I know that you don't feel like getting another chicken right now, but in a week or two you'll feel differently. These crazy chickens have a way of worming their way into our hearts.

You wouldn't be replacing her to get another chicken. It is impossible to replace a pet. But, another one would help you remember all the funny and sweet things that Sandy did.

I am glad they let you know what happened to her. Mine will try and eat anything! Beads, tinsel, my fingernails!

No matter how careful we are, things happen. You can't keep them 100% safe, and you can't watch them all the time. It's impossible. Don't blame yourself. You did everything you could, and then some!

Just remember that there are a lot of people here that understand exactly what you are going through. This is a great place to get support when you are feeling down.

I know you did everything you could for her. Sometimes chickies eat the strangest things. She was a pretty girl, I liked the pics.

I have one question though, in the second picture there is a chicken walking away and it has SOCKS on? I am curious.

So sorry for your loss,I too know how it feels to lose your fav chicken.

If I was you I would bring her body home and freeze it and wait till the ground thaws to burry her. Cremation is expensive and If your vet office is like ours, then they just take the bodys to a dump site and trash them.

Everythime I read over these posts I smile with tears rolling. I believe the other two know what has happend. Kernal the roo is taking it the hardest. He just wants to be held and comforted all day long. All these posts deserve more than just a simple thankyou in comforting me. I really appreciate everyone being here.

Peepsnbunnies: Yes those are socks on a chicken. Back in the fall she had a problem with bumblefoot on both feet so i bandaged her up them put socks on her to keep the dirt out.
