xBrianx - I'm in CA, too, so this is good to know, as I've been thinking I might order from MPC next time around in order to get the breeds I want. I don't understand why they wouldn't overnight ship - I know I'd rather pay the extra $$ than subject the chicks to three days of misery in transit.

I wonder if there's a list anywhere of breeders by state - would be such a great resource as I'm sure there must be breeders in CA.

I see you gave all your chicks boys' names - are you hoping for all roos?

So glad changing the heat level has helped. 95 degrees was definitely too warm for mine, as well.

Not hoping for any boys...we ordered all hens. We thought it was a little funny and a little different.

I would have payed extra as well. Does the PO offer faster shipping for animals?

If you phone the PO before they're due to arrive, you can get a call as soon as they hit your main station, generally 6 am the day they show. If you don't forewarn them and wait for delivery or for them to get around to calling without prior contact from you, it may be a few more hours the chicks would have to endure.

I would cut down the time as much as possible. I read somewhere on here about someone finding out what the stops were along the way to her, and she now picks up at the airport.


I'm just glad there's been a turnaround and that their chickies are improved!

Yes, I always call the PO for both eggs and chicks prior to arrival. They have always been VERY good about letting me know they are there.

This is a small town PO, they know me ( and probably think I am nuts), and I am very appreciative of them.
