Seriuos eye infection in Silkie - need help please

I am actually gently rinsing the eye everyday. I get just a little of the crud out but not much.

I can't say what would be the right thing to do. A lot of good advice already here. Just want to say Welcome to BYC! and So sorry for your troubles.

Thank you. Actually she appears to be doing a little better... I have been soaking her eye with a chamomile tea bag which seems to have 'softened' the clump of crud in her eye so I can wipe a little out every day - and I have been putting Duramycin in her water which may be stopping the infection - time will tell - she's a little trouper...

Thank you to all for your advice. I actually did use the Duramycin in her water - I then soaked her eye with a camomile tea bag and put the Duramycin in the tea which she drank. I tried to keep the hard crud in her eye wet and after about 7 weeks of dealing with this - I finally got the whole chink of crud out of her eye!!! Success! And she seems to not be congested either so i hope she is truly on the mends... Thank you to all. Sylvia will always be my special girl and will live in the barn rather than the coop...

Great to hear she is better! Many times the ones that have issues early on in life become your most favorite. I have one like this too.
