Set 86 Eggs Tonight *FORTY-FOUR Hatched--Hatch Over *

Updating:

Tonight we are going into Day 16. Tossed a BBS Rock egg that was severely underdeveloped for this stage and had just expired--last time I candled, it was alive. I did open the egg and the baby was on probably Day 12 stage of incubation in size, as far as I could determine. There were already feathers covering part of the body. Another one is almost exactly the same but is still bouncing around in the egg! The pic below is what they both looked like upon candling tonight. What on earth do I do with the one that is alive but will in no way be ready to hatch in 4 days? There is another one or two like that as well, along with the rest that are properly developed.

After tossing that one, I still have 61 eggs in there and as far as I can tell, will have to toss maybe three or four more.

I'm not one of those folks who wait till Day 25, though. Those chicks rarely are "right". Maybe that one will expire like the other one and save me the trouble of a decision. Kathy, I think there are still 10 of the BRs you sent me in the running. Will have to check that later. Still have 4 NH, 4 BLRW and 3 SLW and the olive egger.

I do have a generator, but gasoline to power it is pretty expensive. The last long power outage, and I do consider six hours long when I have babies in the bator, we ran that generator with its 7 yr old gasoline the entire time. Man, that thing is LOUD!

I am gonna poke my excited self into this. I had my first silkie EVER hatch tonight and I have two more pips. I have had so many -0- hatches with silkies I did not have high hopes for these. Lo and behold, I got me a splash babe makin a racket in the bator.

And this was a test hatch for a friend!!!!
