Set eggs 4/6, EDD 4/27 & 4/28...wanna hatch with me??

I candled a few of my eggs. I didn't want to upset Floppy too much. Since we're homeschoolers, I also wanted this opportunity to show the boys that little thing swimming around in there

I only candled 5 or 6, but we have 3 swimmers of those 5-6. We are so excited!

I candled my eggs two nights ago. Tons of veining on all but one egg! I'm so happy!

I did put 20 more eggs in on Sunday morning, so I'm going to have to fire up the old LG to put them in for a few days while the first eggs hatch. I am impressed with my hovabator so far, the temp has been very stable. Yay!!!

I've got 9 out of 22 but they are all moving and looking good. I'm leaving the others in for a few more days but don't hold out much hope for them, they all look clear. I can't wait for hatch day!

Im blaming BYC god knows what im doing ive just brought some SALMON FAVEROLLE hatching eggs god im hooked i dont need anymore eggs i was only trying it out to begin with

Mealies are a great idea...I have 3-wk-old chicks in the brooder so I should get some mealies for them and for my broody Sammie! I'll try to get those today. Sammie has been eating better since I moved the food right next to her. And I'm seeing monster poops several feet away from her so I know she is getting up and moving around a little bit.

This makes me laugh... now I have TWO broody silkies... there are about 16 eggs between them... I think when one gets up, the other rolls a few eggs under her... Maybe they will co-raise the babies?

Well - at least we will see the natural raising of chicks as well as the incubated ones we are working on inside our house LOL

lol Kara has just asked me to tell you here silkies offen do that steal the others eggs under them when they walk away for a drink but the other day she found a baby seabright under one of her silkies which completely confused her as there in diffrent pens it turns out her youngest daughter who is three had gone out with a shopping basket toy collected the eggs in it from under the chickens

which is amazing as they dont let most people near them and when her 17 year old saw what she had done he just assumed she had got all the eggs from the barn he had found her in so stuck them back (not under the chickens as they tryed to peck him but near them so they rolled them under themselves) she's know tinking will there be anymore suprises as the broody still has 5 eggs sitting
