I am moving my incubator eggs under my broody to make room to refill the incubator - am about to sneak out there and slip them under her when I've candled...I could do with some more broodies too

The friend I got the fertile eggs from set her broody the day after I did & was going to pull the eggs tonight. When she did, Momma pecked her a bit harder than normal & then she started hearing chirpies! She has a single baby! All the other eggs "disappeared (she didn't isolate her). So we're excited! I got a couple pics, as I went out to help her move them. Good thing, too, because I had to stuff the chick up my shirt for the ride as Momma freaked & kept stepping on baby.

Hi all. Finally back this evening from Ft. Worth.

I have a new chick....yellow with a splash of black. It is from the eggs the local guy gave me. Looks just like 4 others that hatched a month or so ago.

Have 3 Ameracaunas! They have cute fuzzy checks!
But the chicky that hatched right before we left (posted pics of it before we left) died. Guess the white one hatched after we left. Then when moving the eggs out tonight, I noticed another white one had pipped, but never went any farther then that. =-(
I moved the 1st hatchling as it was already dried. Left the 2nd hatchling with the 3rd in the bator (# 3 is the 1 that died).
It was so cute. I kept checking #1, and it was underneath and under the wings of the chick it was with (it is my very 1st hatchling with a bum leg. All the new babies go in with this one as it doesnt run anyone over and is gentle).

Here are pics. There are 4 (though I only got 3 little ones at a time)

On a sad note, my goosey hatchling is missing most of its neck skin...down to the muscle

I had moved goosey in with some other chicks before we left as I thought the baby brooder with hurt leg chicken would be too crowded. We kept an eye on goosey before we left to watch for pecking..... sigh, goosey looks horrible. It was the 1st thing I checked on when I got home.
My dh was ticked. He actually liked the goose (it is very sweet). He said, "Lets get rid of the stupid chickens and just raise geese".

Loopy, I have eggs in the bator that I got off of ebay when all my last hatch eggs went bad and I had openings in the bator. Lady mailed 12 (express, packed well), 2 had yolks completely out, and 2 were smashed in on the bottoms. So not sure how well these will hatch. There is a really large RIR egg in there...had to hurt!
Are you doing more?
