Set Eggs August 25, anyone else?

I have a white silkie hen in the barn that was broody for the last 3 weeks, finally kicked her off the nest and cracked the eggs, 2 non fertile and one was dark gray fluid when I cracked it...it was really weird. Guess my 8 month olld white silkie roo has yet to figure out his role. For some reason my coronation split pullets decided to come on real strong with eggs so I've got about 6 or 7 . My roos consist of 3 coros and 3 splits so hopefully the chicks will be pure. But the three I collected last night I decided to set in the old silkie nest . She ran over to them, flattened out over the top of them, sat down and tucked them under her belly. I'm going to add the others I collected today that are in my house, I love how silkies just take anything that even remotely looks like an egg.....I could of swore she actually looked excited when she saw them and ran over to them lol.

I've always incubated in a closet so i can make sure i can control drafts and temperature changes as best as i can if they happen to occur.

Of a total 30 shipped silkie eggs...17 are growing and kicking.....anything over 50% on shipped egg's to me is good..you at least got your monies worth. And of my personal dozen i have 8 still going....all millies, was bummed the two big sussex eggs went down but i've got all winter to focus on hatching. Let's see some pics from you guy's now!

Nice! My brinsea is tiny compared to those! I still have only one sitting there, I am actually hatching for my mom so this is her grandchicky. She called to check the status last night and said she'd bring me some more to try to hatch. YAY!

I also saw someone local has fertile duck eggs for FREE. I don't have anywhere to keep ducks but boy are they tempting!

I'll try to post pics later, probably at hatch time since I'm trying to keep my hands off my lonely little fuzzy butt.

Only one week left!

Even though I have a pretty fancy camera I can never get good pictures of candling eggs! Anyways, this proves a few are developing! Last night they were moving around like crazy! Tomorrow is day 16!
