This is my second time incubating, hopefully my first hatch!

I candled on day 7 and on day 10 - Out of 10 shipped silkie eggs, 5 are developing; and my two "homegrown" eggs both have veins and I saw the embryo move on one of them!

I added 7 D'uccle eggs on Wednesday - too early to candle. I need to get my hatcher ready so I can move the first group for lockdown!

I remember my first hatch, it was my first incubation too, went 80%. What really got my heart thumping was whwn I heard them peeping in the shell before they ever pipped. I will never forget how I fealt that day, it was just simply amazing to me.

I've only done 5 hatches, but what stands out most for me too is the peeping I heard on day 18. I kept thinking it was a bird outside - but finally I realized it was a chick peeping in the shell. I guess I never really thought anything would hatch - after 18 grueling days I was waiting for a miracle!

I started my second batch on the 25th too! The frist batch out of 9 eggs I only had one born! I also was every excited to hear the peeping on the 18th day! the first batch I had a home made incubator with a light blub in a fish tank. My hubby made me a real incubator for my second batch. I see life in all 12 but one egg. But maybe it is just my bad eyes. We shall see! It is so exciting to see them develope every day! Very exciting new hobby for me! Good luck to every one in hatching there babys!

Can I join? I set 10 eggs under my broody hen on the 27th. She is still sitting on the golf ball, too, but I doubt it will hatch. I never have luck with those

I set coronation sussex, light sussex, and coronation x light mixes. I am hoping for some lavender babies!!

I haven't candled yet because I am not good at it, and because momma is MAD at me! I had to hold a pitcher over her head when I was stuffing the eggs under her because she was pecking the heck out of my hand. It hurt! She hasn't been the most consistent, so I am a little nervous, but I find that my broodies do much better than my incubator.

Good luck everyone!!

Good luck everyone! I thought my broody hen was awful - she would get off of the eggs for HOURS at a time . . . we had to put her back on them constantly. But with the Georgia heat I guess the eggs were ok, and Mom knew not to cook them. She hatched every egg!

Dear Chillin! Dont feel bad my hubby thinks I am crazy too! But I think he is crazy with pigeons! I only have one chick so far and he has about 40 pigeons!
