Set Eggs August 25, anyone else?

I'm outside of Atlanta (near Decatur). I'm glad to see you have Sussex.

I have a light and am getting a coronation and silver this fall (I only keep hens). Where are your sussex from - anyone local ever?

Yes, they are from my Fedora Coops in Nicholson. The guy is great and always very nice to me. He is keeping the Coronations for a local vet temporarily, but in the meantime he let me take some of the eggs they laid. He also has beautiful EEs that I am hoping to score if I ever have another broody. I am no good at incubators.

I really should keep hens only, because I am not allowed to have chickens at all where I live, but I don't think that I will be able to resist the opportunity to breed the coronations. They are simply stunning birds!

Should be start of day 10 for me late tonight, should I candle tonight or wait till mid day tomorrow??? Hmmmmm decisions decisions

Well I pulled a 14hr shift today "wich I'm still on" lol, and if I feel up to it I will do it. What did your latests candle tell you?

Things are still going well. I started with 20 eggs I think and have 15 still doing well. A few eggs were clear and 2 had blood rings. They were all shipped eggs in the GA heat so I'll be happy with 50% or so. I hope your shift is over soon!

I just candled. One alive and kicking, still growing, looks great. Two definitely unfertilized. One quitter.

So, looks like I'll have one single baby if we make it to 21 days!

Awwww only one? U didn't set very many I guess?

I set 4. I stole them from my mothers coup. She has roosters, I don't. I was surprised to actually have one baby in the 4 since her gals just started to lay. I'm broody, I needed something to hatch!
