Its ok, thank you, I have a very strong duccle program right now so its ok. My hatch went pretty good, out of 25 eggs to lockdown, 19 hatched....7 were my own and the other 12 were shiped silkie eggs from florida and washington....I live in indiana. So I'm not sure what 19 out 25 hatch is as a percentage but I think its not too shabby.

Do you have photos of your breeding birds? If my D'uccle eggs hatch, I might be looking for more eggs to add some diversity to my little flock. Or maybe when your current youngsters get older . . . I'm looking for MF D'uccle and white and b/b/s silkie eggs.

And yes, 19/25 is a great hatch!

Thanks
Melissa

Thanks, The Lisser. I believe they were not fertilized as when I cracked them open on day 23, they were all runny rotten yolk and white, no blood or signs of life at all.

Good luck with your D'Uccle eggs. Hopefully they are just a little bit behind.

I have babies!! I had 2 of the 10 local eggs hatch. Although I was hoping for a much better hatch rate, I am happy with what I have!!!

Their "Momma" is looking a little rough after brooding for the last 3 weeks, but the babies are eating and drinking happily.

The babies are either light or coronation sussex (all ran together), so I am very eager to see what they will be. How soon should I be able to tell? One is smaller and yellower, while the other is bigger and whiter. I don't think there is a reason for the size difference, but I am hoping that the color might mean something!
