SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

I just posted on the other thread "Setting on June 20th". I have 7 (3 Golden Polish and 3 Cochin) babies out of 20 so far. I still have one pipping. 3 Jerseys, 2 silkies, and 8 Golden Polish that aren't doing anything but they are actually due today.

Would ya'll suggest separating the new babies that I put in this morning with the babies that were put in there yesterday? I'm asking that because the babies today want to sleep and the babies from yesterday want to explore and peck. One of my Cochins is a big crybaby and if one of the others comes near it screaming to the top of it's little lungs.
HAHAHAHSorry bu tthats too funny a crybaby chick that screams!!I dont really know but seems like a good idea to separate them until they all are on the same page pretty much..

We're back to 80% humidity!

It seems that the key lays within completely filling the water rings! I've been adding bowl after bowl of water only to have to remove them all because with the water rings full, the darn thing heats up fast!

Ahhhh! I'm so excited. I just want to see a baby hatch :D I guess I'm not leaving my house today.

WRVgirl....WOOHOO.....How great an air hole for you they are starting.......wish i had something ANYTHING a wiggle a peep a hole..
.
WAs up and down all night as my temp was 99.1 at midnight then 3 am it went to 98.2!!!So i ajusted and then spent the rest of the night checking to see it didnt get too high as i had to turn it a long way to get it to turn on to heat things up..Wonder how long it was that LOW 98.2.Probably 1/2 hour wqoulsd be fine but 2 hours?dont know.
Was 100 even this morning but where are my pips or peeps? .Hope the few 98's the last 2 days didnt kill my chicks.I am sort of bummed this morning as ihave kept so close avigil on this thing and yet it went down that low and who knows what it did to them Guess i need positive thinking.

I HAVE A PIP!

I woke up to a little hole near the top of one of my eggs. Enough force to knock off the thermometer....and it's NOT one of the eggs I saw movement in!!1

Hooray!!!!!

How long should it take for the chick to hatch once the air hole it set. The egg isn't moving at all so I'm torn between excitement and terror!
I woke up to a pip too!
I could hear cheeping and it took me a while to realise it was from the bator and not outside lol, I am down to 2 eggs and hoping that they both hatch :)

Good luck everyone :)
*hugs* Heather x

If those are the only fluctuations you've had this entire hatch, consider yourself lucky :) My temperatures have been as inconsistent as Casey Anthony's excuses this hatch and I've got a pip. If I get chicks out of this, then you should certainly get some as well. Lol.

I was up all night as well, temp stayed between 98-100, I've learned to leave the dial alone. the incubator will correct the 98 in due time, when I mess with the thermostat, I usually end up coming home to 101-102 in the bator and having a mini freak out about it.

I just watched the eggs for a while, and I think one of my partridge silkies is rocking! The egg definitely moved on 2 different occasions and I check to make sure it wasn't me hitting the table or anything. It wasn't! The rocking partridge was another egg that I hasn't seen movement in either so I'm crossing my fingers that I get a good hatch after all!

Oh, and I wanted to add that I have not yet heard any peeping...but then again, my incubator is in the room with my 2w old cochins who are chirping away! So I probably wouldn't be able to hear anything anyway. lol.

I have just heard some loud chirping from someplace but might be from outside. I closed the window now (had the fan in it )and heard it again just as loud but when i go into the bedroom its quiet as a mouse. Not sure if its my eggs or a bird outside. DARN.
Birds do sit near my window a lot small trees even up against the house.

Do they continue to chirp intermitantly or solid? This was just 4 or 5 chirps twice in 5 minutes or so Seemed so loud cant think it was a baby.

Ok. I've got some eggs rocking and more chirps! I did manage to break my digital thermometer/hydrometer :( when I was filling up the water rings, I aimed wrong and dropped water on the darn thing. I think it came back to life, but I can't be 100% so I guess I'm flying blind right now.

I hooked up my ipod speakers and put on some classical music for them...hopefully it will help them get out of their shells, and classical music is sort of soothing. I want them to have a non-violent birth [maybe it'll make them happier, calmer hens when they grow up.]

I'll keep you updated as the day moves along.

Sorry for all of the posts!!! I'm just so nervous/excited about this hatch :D

Mine chirped so loud inside the eggs that I could hear them over the incubator and a Genesis is not a quiet incubator. I have one now that has pipped a big hole and just stopped. I can see it breathing on the inside and it still looks moist but she is chirping so weakly. I just don't know about her (it). Now, we have another GP that has pipped also. Maybe that will encourage the other to finish.

If you heard yours chirping from in the egg, it won't be long before they start hatching. Mine didn't chirp constantly. Well, I had one that did and from the time she pipped until the time she hatched was about 12 hours (she was determined she was getting out of there. Hence, the name Crybaby)! I haven't had one any shorter time so far. I had some very determined ones yesterday. They weren't due to hatch until today, but decided to come yesterday. Guess they like it out here better. The ones that are due today don't want to come out yet.
