What day did u set?Hi there, mind if I join in? This will be our first hatch. Homemade still-air ice chest type incubator, in the closet, 8 auburn heritage turkey eggs. Just got them from Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys, today. They are "resting" in an egg carton, large end up, in the closet where the incubator is. Any tips? Sounds to me like I am as new as a few of you are Praying this works. We have done chickens but this year, decided to do turkeys as well as chickens and bought 8 broad breasted bronze and 4 broad breasted whites, along with 4 golden sex links, 4 rhodies and 4 barred rock chicks, not knowing until after we'd spent the $$ that said turkeys cannot breed naturally. Nice. Live and learn. Oh well, they will stock the freezer quite nicely and since we also have a large "brood" of humans to feed, this is a necessity. Hoping that the Auburn heritage turkeys will produce at least one broody female in time.![]()
, Hi there! I havent set them yet. Just received them today and am a tad clueless. From what I've read you need to "rest' them first and that's what I'm doing while dinkin around with this incubator. It was holding a steady temp 2 days ago and now that the eggs are here, I've had 102-94 degrees with humidity all the way up to 99% at one point. Even went so far as to cut new wire, find a new cooler and bring it all to hubby as a back up plan if this one doesnt suit. The info that came with the eggs says that turkey eggs should stay within this range 99.5-101.5. I'm half nuts and havent even set them yet. As far as a trade, I have teenagers, turkeys, dogs, cats, 9 week old rhodies, golden sexlinks and barred rocks. I'm a gardener and an artist and a pirate! I'm quite sure we could work something out. If I don't get this incubator sorted out I may be setting on eggs myself! LOL
