I even sought out our mail carrier to give her fair warning they were coming. Even after pleading with her to let me know as soon as they were here, she left them in the driveway... next to the trash can. Gee, thanks!

Oh my! And in our heat right now, they would be hard boiled in 5 minutes!!!!

Fortunately it was 10:30 am and the heat of the day hadn't reached its full capacity. Still fiddling with this home made incubator though. We live in a 110 yr old farmhouse and ambient temperature changes drastically all the time. I'm spending ALOT of time in the closet these days... LOL

I set 15 barred rock/dominique mix before I set any others to see my success rate. So far I have 2 or 3 that I will probably have to take out. When is the latest they should be taken out?
No smell so they are not ruined just don't seem to be forming.

I sure cant answer that. I am pretty new at this and do not trust my candeling skills yet, so I leave all that do not stink. I will probally be sorry for that one day when one explodes!!!!

Just saw this thread!!! I'm new to all things chicken. Started in April w/ a couple chicks from Orschlens... and chicken math started.
Adopted 2 hes about a yr old in April also. Well a couple weeks ago our Sussex went broody. Tried to break it, but she wasn't having that. Advice received was just to put some eggs under her and let her do her thing... that was all the excuse I needed! Set eggs on the 24th!!!

I didn't think ANY of mine were going to hatch,,,and I got 7 I vote leave em in!

Do you have any eggs in?

I just have my eggs in that I set on june 9 and 11th. Most of all mine are all hatched but still waiting on the ones from the 11th now. I had sunflower hens, silkies all blue, seremas the smallest chicken in the world, and my blue laced red wyandottes have not hatched at all, oh and 2 lavender lavender splits did hatched out for me. also some silkies mixed to. They are so pretty! I love them all so much.
