SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

I have an old (borrowed) bator that I cannot seem to keep a stable temp in I was going to go get one but a good one is at least $300 I decided my next chicks could be under a hen

I new to this and bought a Little Giant as a 1st bator. I apparently didn't understand the "manaul" temp thing. I have battled with that thing like crazy. We have it bouncing between 99.5F & 100.7F. The rep. from the company said that was wonderful for that bator. Well, due to one being late coming in I was forced to buy another one of the same one. I now have a Genesis Havo-bator Electric on the way for my 3rd & last set for the year. I'm hoping that I'll have better luck with the temp thing.

Yeah it was kind of tough opening up an egg to see what happened. My girls 9 and 10 did not like it either. Dont think I want to do it again.

Well, it's 1:00AM here & I can't sleep. I just checked the temps n the bators & everything looked good. What temp does my still air need to be? It's so hard to keep stable.

Tonight I had to throw out one Golden Laced Crested Polish egg-no development
& one silkie egg- death. With this batch I'm down to 2 silkies & 1 of those I'm not so sure ab. I have 5 more n the other bator.

I was just browsing th site & came across a discussion ab marek's vaccinations & bantams. I'm nervous ab vaccinating now. How r ya'll going to handle that?

I candled my 6 Araucana eggs last night....2 clears and 1 blood ring that I discarded. but the other 3 were swimming around and doing great

that I get 3 healthy little fuzzy butts.

[Good luck! My babies were swimmin' like crazy too. I didn't candle the entire bator bc I had candled some last weekend. I was suspicious ab these. Sadly, my suspicions were actually right.

It really does feel good to have someone to stay up late to talk "chicken" w/. Especially when their just as nervous & excited about the situation as you are. Although, it really works better when the other person stays awake (sorry, Heather). I kept posting on top of you w/ my phn & that was so aggrevating. When my kids see lights on in the LR, they think I'm messing with the incubators & will run in there to see what I'm up to. When they get up, my chihuahua, NaTasha, has to get up & everybody thinks it's party time. We have to start the bedtime ritual all over again. Hugs, Kisses, I love U, Tuck Me In, Say a Prayer, Did you go the the bathroom? All of it. So, I didn't want to crank the laptop back up. Their curiosity is getting the best of them also. When I check on the babies in the brooder (in the carport) or in the incubator, I have to get my flashlight & sneak around. Their so sweet. It's like my human, feather, and furry children know that mommy will make her rounds to check on everyone even if it's at 2 o'clock in the morning. lol.

Are ya'll going to vaccinate at one day old for Marek's? Or any other vaccines. I know we know we don't wan't to think about having to give our babies shots. But I'm considering it. We haven't had any Marek's around here that I'm aware of. But the farmers use a lot of chicken poo as fertilizer near our house. I know it travels through other ways. My 3 week old chicks were vaccinated at MPC. I don't know what to do? I also have bantams in this mix. MPC doesn't vaccinate bantams but Ideal does. So, I don't know what's ya'lls opinion?
