SET EGGS JUNE 23 ANYONE WITH ME?

They will dry but sometimes they dont fluff well cause they are still coated with egg white it will flake off and then they will fluff up. You can brush them with a soft tooth brush to clean the egg white off if you are in a rush to see them fluffy. Some take longer to get their land legs than others. Ive had a few weak ones that took close to a day before they could walk and stand well.

I set them up on their feet. Also using a very small reptile dish I give my chicks water with save a chick in it. Also put some chick food in the bater, sprinkle on a paper towel. Give the hatchees something to do and helps give them strength.

I woke up to my Jersey on her side unable to control her neck movements & unable to chirp. She's the one that I had to help hatch. I have wrapped in a rag right now in my lap. I have her & 2 others that just weren't quite strong enuogh to go to the big brooder. I think she's dying.

Sorry to be a downer but SADly my one little baby who was zipping died in his egg.
Havent opened it up.dont have the heart yet... but i didnt see him breathing late last night i didnt think and now either Took the egg out he is hard and didnt move when itouched his little feathers on the side it looks like or maybe his back at the hole???
His head isnt by the hole think he may have turned and suffocated. i tried to pick a piece of shell off at first and it seems pretty hard or thick.

I guess i should have known he was weak when he never made a sound or rocked the egg ever.

Not sure what he did until i open it up maybe later tomorrow i am not sure. Just depressing.Dont know if i can open him up i was getting attached.
Should have known it was Friday the 13th!! The guy was doomed!! LOL

Other 2 eggs nothing either. all 3 dead at or before the very end i imagine. Guess i will peel them back tomorrow day23 in the air sac area t o see what ihave but obviously they all died at the last moment for some reason .My bator troubleshooting says low humidity,low oxygen and something else.... the last 2 i made sure didtn happen so ..gotta be low humidity which works for some really well but i gues not me.

Next hatch next week will put humidity up at 40-50 !! gotta find a good spot here someplace

Boy poor little things are paying for my inability Yeah i guess i am feeliing sad and frustrated at my self big time..

I feel i am doing it all right but obviously i am not ,Maybe ishould stick to birthing puppies i have excellent results at that. and never seem to lose any and bring some back from deaths door literally and one even back from past death itself but a long story.... .!(gues i am bragging there to make myself feel better about losing these tiny ones both hatches. Cant believe i did this to them. and checking on them literally every 5 minutes since lockdown
Well GRRRRRRRRR onword and upward I HOPE from here on out.
Looking at the sort of positive he would have been all alone anyway so a sad baby until Monday or tueasday when i could drive to pick up a friend.. Still wish he made it.

NEXT WEEK I have a whole bator full of eggs 2 orders, coming 24 plus i think...So need to shake this off... i should be able to pull out one or two wouldnt you think?
Hope so!!! If not i really AM giving up and selling the bator or start to raise snakes.(EEEWWWWHHHH just kidding! ) This hatching is as bad as casino gambling which i am terrible at.
Well see you all later whoever sets next week...

I have a batch of chicks coming out at present the first chick out has never stopped doing break dance just stays on it's side and goes around and around other that have hatched after this first chick are okay but I do think the temp may have been a touch low during the incubation period but why only one with what seams to be brain damage??

We set 12 eggs on the 27th! One was bad and exploded on us, so we're down to 11. They are all Splash Marans. Our broody Mama is a Buff Brahma. Super excited!

I had on start oozing and some that just started stinking. i could not imagine one exploding. Yuck! Good luck with the Splash Marans.

I know just how you feel....I lost all mine a couple of days ago....1st time using an incubator (and last, its now on ebay) instead of a broody....it is so heartbreaking losing them so close after hatching or during hatching, I couldn't stand doing it again and losing them all.

Heather~I have to say I'm with you. After having this Jersey suffer in my hands, I don't know if I can hatch in a bator again. My heart is crushed and I haven't the heart to cull. The only thing I've intentionally killed has been a bug. I think I'll let the broodies do their job (when mine are old enough).
