The waiting was killing me so I opened all 4 and they were all fully developed but they were all dead?

Any ideas guys? I would hate for this to happen again

I have 19 going in lockdown Thursday. I will be better prepared this time tho! I only had my hatcher Incubator setup about 5-6 hrs before I put the eggs in maybe it was to soon?...but the temp was holding at 100 degrees and my humidity was holding between 66-68%. Any help would be great it seems like all you guys done better than me?

I only had 3 out of 7 hatch.

Was your humidity 66-68 during the first 18 days? If so, that is a bit high. During the first 18 days, should keep it about 45-50, then bump it up to 65-70 during lockdown.

I have 2 Incubator setup 1 for Incubating and 1 for Hatching. I keep the Humidity at 40-50% in the Incubating one for the first 18 days and then 65-70% in the Hatcher. I'm not sure what happened but very unhappy about it!

I am so sorry, Sounds like you had everything right. And for it to be fully formed like that and dead, I don't know what else would cause it. Might be able to google and find some info or a thread on here.

What was your humidity days 1 - 18? I'm sorry for your loss. It's going to get better. I don't think having the bator set up for just 5 - 6 hours was too soon. The temps and humidity were steady.

Babies are doing great. Float tested the only egg left and it didn't do anything, scratched the shell heard nothing and then candled it saw a fully developed chick with no movement. So I decided to open the shell via the air sack, saw a fully developed chick that hadn't touched the membrane and the chick was dead, didn't want to go or see a need to go any farther. The cause, i don't know and I guess don't care because I did have a very successful hatch of, here it goes, 23 out of 24. I gave myself a big pat on the back and everyone one BYC for doing such wonderful jobs. Especially us first timers

Chickenhawk, did you open the incubator up during lockdown. I left mine closed 24hrs after the last one hatched. I know they can survive three days on their yolk sack. Last year I ordered from Privett out of New Mexico and I live in Central NY they shipped Wednesday and I got them Saturday @ 6am with no fatalities. I have also read the same. Or it just may be one of those 'the fit of the fittest survive' Sorry for your loss though.

sparrker, I did open it up once or twice during lockdown messing with the water throughs but only for a second maybe that did it? But I didn't open it again until about 30 hrs after day 21 to remove my first 2 chicks. This next time I will have it all setup 2 days before setting my eggs and I know exactly where and how much water to add this time so I want have to open it. Also wanted to give an update I counted my eggs wrong the other day I actually have 16 BLRW eggs to set Thursday. And I also candled my Wife's 3 ??? Eggs tonight and all three are doing good I can't wait to see what they are today was day 10 for them. I'm going to take pics right now for you guys!
