Set eggs today, 2/6/10. Who's with me?

I set mine on Saturday the 6th... I will do a final candling tomorrow night, last "turn" at Wednesday lunchtime, then try to rig things to get the humidity up (I've never really fully got this worked out although it's my 3rd hatch) and hope for the best!!

Good luck to all,

Pat, who was really FAR less stressed about birthing her OWN children than about hatching a buncha stupid chicken eggs

This is really getting exciting! Good luck you guys! I can't wait to see what's happening in my coop on Friday and Saturday! Broodies are still very loyally sitting on their stashes. Please post picts! (This is sooooo much better than TV!)

Yes, I did. Final candling and lockdown is tomorrow evening. 17 precious B-Ameracaunas [will stay in the Suro-20], 4 LF eggs for a friend and 12 'store bought' LF - Austrolorps and Golden comets - unknown mix - will go into the hatcher!

Did my final candling tonight, down to 26 eggs. One of those 26 is iffy, it's a serama. I have found with my other Seramas that the eggs candle weird, so unless I'm sure, I don't cull them. (I have three Serama chicks in the brooder now from last hatch!) Of the eggs that I culled, I found that they were all 3-5 day quitters, except one, which looked more like a 7-dayer. My kids thought it was cool, but it did stink!

Our final candling is tonight and then lockdown begins. I get more excited about it as each day passes. I'm really glad that we started on a weekend, otherwise I would be tempted to take a day off from work.

Did my last candling last night -- removed 1 lingering clear, and also <bangs head on wall in despair> removed one that was about 80% *clear*, with just a small black blob, but turned out to be a perfectly normal full-sized living chick, AAARGH. I swear, I SWEAR, I am never again removing anything other than a TOTALLY-clear egg, no matter how stupidly paranoid I am about things exploding in there. I hate myself. Never again.

Anyhow I have 12 eggs left, 10 of which I feel pretty good about (the other 2 I really dunno) although I only saw movement in one of them.

Bumping the humidity and closing the lid for the last time after lunch today, and then the waiting begins!!

Good luck to all,

Pat
