Set eggs today Saturday 2/22 - anyone else?

Everybody is hatching now. I'm a little jealous. I have turkeys so, one more week. I candled Wednesday and had 4 clears in the 16 I set. So hopefully next weekend I'll have pictures of a dozen little poults. I got my brooder ready...Come On Babies!

My turkey hen just started laying Monday. So far I've gotten 4 eggs from her. I'm wanting to incubate them next, but I was wondering how long I can save them up before I start them in the bator. I know with chickens it's a couple weeks. Are turks any different?

Half of my Ameraucana eggs are still not pipped and I don't think they're going to. Bummer I had a better hatch rate from the barnyard mutts I bought as eating eggs from the farmers market that sat on my counter for 4 days before incubating. My Ameraucana eggs were not shipped, the were from a breeder about 100 miles away and I picked them up. I'm kinda bummed about that.

But on the other hand, I have 15 little chickies running around, so who can be sad about that?

You can save eggs 10 to 14 days and still be viable. Anything after that the percentages start going down.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go ahead and let these build up for 3 weeks then see what I get out of it. I'm dating them as I pick them up, so I'll know the ones not likely to get going I guess.

I saved my eggs for 8 days to fill bator with 50. Pulled 3 day seven. Have 37 hatched and 3 pips at the moment. If those three make it out it will be 80% hatch.

my son had a ball playn with them. He would tap his fingers on floor and they would all rush him lol. Had 40 total hatch.

i have an instant read therm. that shoots a red dot my kids love to get my chicks to chase it..

Congrats to everybody on their hatches! I only got 5 out of 9 to hatch (shrink wrapped) and 1 died a day later, so I have 4 Mille Fleur D'uccle chicks. Went to TSC and bought 6 pullets of unknown breed(s) so the little guys wouldn't be so lonely.

I have a couple that look just like that with the light stripe down the back. I wonder what breed those are.
