Well, they are all going to be variations of black and white. And when I opened the incubator to put them into the brooder, there were six of them! Though two arent doing the greatest.
Annarie, YAY for your new baby ducks!!! An extra hookbill? I am jealous!
So i checked the 4 eggs the muscovey has been sitting on they were all clear poor girl been sitting for 2 weeks so i tossed them so she could get up. She is now upset and will not leave the nesting box
I hope she gets over it and gets bk outside with her men so we can try again.
I got 18 silkie eggs and there was no room in the other incubators (set up the 50 egg brower but not the 100 egg on yet) so got out one of my smaller incubators. I have quite a few eggs cooking right now.
One worry, my goose/duck incubator first had a temp spike and then was a little too low. I think I got it regulated back to where it should be temp/humidity wise but will just have to see how it affected things.
I think my bobwhite eggs are a bust but not giving up yet, will leave them in a few more days.
Right now on lockdown I have the bobwhite eggs and two Aracauna eggs. I am not sure about those two eggs but they are kind of a light olive green. I have candled them and still cant decide if they are viable.
Since they arent stinking I am just going to wait.
Turkey eggs!!!! I was thinking about incubating some of them this year but dont think I am going to be getting around to it.

I honestly don't know! My aunt has a farmer friend who doesn't have the time to hatch out some of his turkeys and raise them up this year, and when she told him about my hatching addiction, he asked if I'd be willing to hatch some of his turkey eggs and raise them for the first few weeks! In return, I get to keep a few turkeys - but, turkeys scare the heck out of me, so I'll probably end up giving them away. The incubators I'm borrowing are his - I don't know what kind they are, but from what my aunt's telling me, they sound like LG's or Hovabators with auto-turners. It's going to be an adjustment - I'm spoiled with my Brinseas.
Oh - the reason I don't have enough incubator space? I have a full load of my Indian Runner duck eggs due on the 28th, and two more batches of eggs on the way in the mail in the next two or three weeks. I'm trying to build up a breeder flock of Bantam Cochins.
EDIT - By they way, how are those two Ancona ducklings that weren't doing so well?
That sounds like fun!!
I am trying to find some coturnix eggs to hatch for my cousins little boy. He has his heart set on some. If I do any more hatching this year its going to be bantam cochins, guineas(for my aunt) and coturnix.
I hatched out a ton of duck eggs for my aunt last year so she is bringing some more duck eggs over for me today, lol. I helped butcher a few (not my favorite thing at ALL but they were her ducks and I dont have a queasy stomach) and told her I just wanted eggs in payment this spring.
I am also sending the two guineas I hatched with her (she just lives down the road) with the same deal. I want to move from here so badly but as long as we are in town, the guineas I hatch have to go out there. They are too noisy for town.
The Ancona ducklings I hatched are still kicking, even the ones I wasnt sure about.
Whoa! Surprise!!! I checked the incubator the bobwhites are in, just in case, and there are three or four out! I cant tell exactly yet because I dont want to open the bator.
I always think that nothing is going to hatch and then it does, lol. And if I am SURE it will hatch, it seems to go the other way around!!
I know the woman I got these from has different colors of bobwhites so I will have to see what we get.
I checked the incubator again and can see four of them are out. I will put them in the brooder this evening.
And holy crap!!! My aunt brought over the duck eggs. 23 of them!!! She said they are laying like crazy. These will be Indian Runner mixed eggs.
