Settin Eggz Aug. 12th-18th!!

Thanks for your words. I need to work in my patience because a lot is in line. I really want to hatch these eggs. I will try not to candle until day 7 and then nothing more. My homemade bator is doing a good job and the eggs arrived in great condition so they have a better chance than my last incubation (they arrived broken and with loose air cells).

Now I'm in stress because we are in hurricane season and I can be left without power anytime. Right now we are expecting a tropical storm or hurricane so I'm looking at my options to keep providing what the eggs need without interruption. I tested today the electric generator and got today a small inverter to use it during the night so my neighbors don't get angry with the noise.

I'm sorry about your eggs, I know how it feels. Hope they develope and hatch healthy babies....
I remember those Hurricane seasons...lived in Homestead, Florida & got them every year...worst was Hurricane Andrew 1992...I was 9 months pregnant!!
But Thank the Good Lord we came out alive!

Havin a generator is ALWAYS a great idea...especially if u live within hurricane season path...as with tornando valley & ice storms!!
Hope they ALL hatch before any storms hits!!!!

Yes you can candle tonight!!! Make sure to buy an LED flashlight. I bought one from Dollar Tree ($1) that has 9 little bulbs in it. All it needed was 3 AAA batteries and I was good to go.

So you weren't around for Charley, Francise and Ivan? That was the worse. We live on the Gulf Coast of Central Florida and had no power for 5 days during Charley, had it for a few days and then Francise came along and another 3 days without. Ivan wasn't too bad, the power only went out for a few hours.I was lucky enough to find a generator for Francise but it didn't run the AC, just the household lights and fans. Looks like a few of us are in line for Isaac. I hope he decides to take a turn and head out to open waters.

Isaac should pass near us tomorrow....but with the nature there is a should but always another thing can happen. So unpredictable. This storm/ future hurricane is suposed to be heading to Florida so Floridians be prepared just in case. hope It just go away to open water ....
Last year we had a storm that never touched ground on the island. we just got the rain and I was without power 5 days.
So just in case I tested the generator, got gasoline and a new small inverter. So the incubator is going to keep running.
Closed the coop...reinforced the ceiling. I feel prepared for a little wind and a lot of water but if it gets stronger and touches ground the hens go in kennels inside the house. I'm taking no risks here.

My eggs had broken cell AND were scrambled. I found information about the loose cells and you have a chance if you keep them upright in egg cartons not moving them for the first 7 days. In my case were blue eggs so I was hopping I was wrong and they were ok. I candled every few days and nothing I left them in the battor until hatch day knowing there was no development. When I did the eggtopsy they were totally scrambled and no development at all.
If yours are not scrambled you have a chance. just leave them upright in cartons for 5 to 7 days and then start moving them inside the egg carton just rising one side each turn.
Hope it helps. And hope yours hatch strong and healthy.
