I know is too soon, I'm only at day 3 but they are looking good.

The double yolker seems one of the yolk developing great the other seems with no development. I'll wait to day 7 and if looks like that again I think I should terminate the egg.

i like to jump in too :)
just put mine in the incubator yesterday praying that i get lucky this time

a while ago i had some eggs from beautiful Seramas shipped by the post from western Great Britain to Germany, and all 27 had broken aircells
sadly after trying out the dry incubation thing not even one single egg even started to develop :(
then this breeder was so nice to meet me half way and bring another 15 Serama eggs for me in his car,
these are now sitting in the incubator staring at me ( or better me staring at them )

Set on the 15th @ 12:30am
(does that mean my "1st" day isn't until the 16th?)

I haven't candled yet - I'm soooooooooo nervous!
Is the reason you candle on certain days (5/7/etc) because you don't want to move them around or simply because development is more apparent?

So many things can happen to eggs in shipping *shakeshakeshake*
and I'm so nervous that they're all duds, I can hardly stand it.
-trying to be positive- please Lord let there be one good one, and let it be a she!

When I set my first batch of eggs I did it at 10:00pm on the 17th and was told that the next day (the 18th) was day 1 because it did not have a full 24 hours of development. So by sitting from 12:30am all of the 15th that was your Day 1. Day 2 would start at 12:30am the 16th. You should always candle shipped eggs before you set them. That way you know what the air cells look like before you start. It can also help find any cracks in the shell. People usually candle on days 7/14/18 because on Day 7 you will pretty much be able to tell if you have a chick progressing or not. You should be able to see veining, the eye and movement in the egg. The 14th day you should see a fully formed chick taking up a large proportion of the egg. Get rid of any that have quit. You need to toss any that have not progressed because there is a chance that the bad ones could explode and contaminate the rest of the eggs. The 18th day you are checking once again before you go into lockdown. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Waitin.....Its the hardest thing to do!
But its the best thing to do too!!

Developin chicks needs the heat!....& takin them out...to go candle them...they will lose ALOT!
Not like the openin & closin of turnin the eggs...they will lose sum....but since they r next to others.
They wont lose much!

My Phoenix eggs was shaken BAD!!....down to 9 outta 13....ALL with broken air cells!
But Im hopeful....got them settlin in the bottom of the bator...no turnin for the 1st 7 days.
Hopefully they will still develope & hatch!!

Thanks for your words. I need to work in my patience because a lot is in line. I really want to hatch these eggs. I will try not to candle until day 7 and then nothing more. My homemade bator is doing a good job and the eggs arrived in great condition so they have a better chance than my last incubation (they arrived broken and with loose air cells).

Now I'm in stress because we are in hurricane season and I can be left without power anytime. Right now we are expecting a tropical storm or hurricane so I'm looking at my options to keep providing what the eggs need without interruption. I tested today the electric generator and got today a small inverter to use it during the night so my neighbors don't get angry with the noise.

I'm sorry about your eggs, I know how it feels. Hope they develope and hatch healthy babies....
