Setting eggs tuesday for new years eve hatch.Phoenixs,plymouth rocks&bantam silkie crosses.Last hatch survived hurricane Sandy without power,so let the wind and snow blow,my woodstove isn't afraid of anything.

My phoenixs hatch at 18 days and the plymouth rocks at 22 days during the same setting at 100 degrees.

Wow 4 days difference thats alot. Are your pheniox large fowl or bantams?

Yeah nerves...i wanted to scream at the Po WHERE ARE THEY?
..Of course it s not the local POs fault...I called and was nice( so they didnt shake them when they came) LOL
NO tomorrow he said..... 7 days.

My incubator is stuffed full, and I am approaching lockdown next week. I have about 5 types of
chicks in there, and I really want to keep them separated so I know who is who when they
hatch, but I'm not sure how to do it, because there are so many they will probably be allover
the place inside the incubator unless i grab them out right away.... how do you guys
handle this problem?

it's really exciting i have black copper marans, wheatan marans, black tail buff marans
and some blue marans, then there are some white leghorn pullet /ee roo cross from MDippy
to make super blue egg layers..

hope they make it they were really expensive and I drove 120 miles to pick them up
instead of shipping, but the marans are going to be my foundation stock
so I got the best ones i could.

I think some ppl put in separtators of some kind. Stuffed full i dont know.
Might not work.
Maybe look up what the breeds and colors look like first hatched and then go by that if you can until they are older. There is a webite that shows many of the chicks of breeds but forgot where.Cackle Hatchery has some chick photos but not sure which breeds,YOurs may be in there but for the crosses

I've got 5 pipped and one zipping out of 10 that weren't supposed to hatch till tomorrow. Mine always seem to hatch a day early. The one that is zipping pipped over 24 hours ago. Maybe I need to take the temp in the incubator down a degree.

I have that happen too. but not on all the breeds,Maybe a breed thing? I have a genesis and it regulates the temp,.

Use a size 4 for day old chicks and 5 for 2 to 4 weeks old and just go up from there.

Crissy, was in your neck of the woods today lol. Picked up 4 dozen more eggs for the nyd hatch 2 bcm 2 silkie, to go with the every climbing stock pile. Girls only gave me 7 today.

Buuuuuuuuut, Came home to about a dozen chicks hatched so far I've got more eggs to move to lockdown tonight when i pull the hatched chicks, and more still to lock down monday i believe. Everything I get until tuesday goin in the nyd hatch

I got curious and decided to candle tonight at I guess what would be concidered day 5 and 1/2. I set 21 eggs last mon morn(the 3rd) and when I candled tonight 16 had very good veining, 2 seemed clear and 3 I cant really tell as the eggs are a little darker and a little porous. OOOOHHHHH Im so ecxited!!! Im barley into this hatch and Im already planning my next one. I love this
