I've been trying to decide whether to go through all of that or not. What was the worst part of it?

Having to catch each and every bird. Fed swabed, state bled and whoever was done first slapped the band on

What about all of the chicks you are hatching. What age do they have to have a band on them? Congratulations on getting certified!

so, I candled the eggs I put in the 1588 on the 3rd and the 4th. Eyes!!!! Swimming!!!!!! Shifting!!!!!! in all the ones I candled - we will be grandparents!!!!!!

ME TOO! I feel your excitement as we to just candled our eggs under our bantam Cochin and saw the same thing!

Thanks since everything im hatching is coming from my flock, and other npip clean farms they can be banded without direct testing. They gave me registered bands to finish banding the rest myself. Now if i aquire other birds I will have them tested at a seperate location before they are allowed into the flock. Most of what Im hatching now is freezerbound anyways but Ill have pure breeds hatching out for the nyd hatch

candled my eggs for the last time today. they aren't due for lock down til the 18th. I put them under my broody hen though. So my work is done LOL. There are only 9 eggs that i think are viable right now. Not sure how many will make it but it's less stress for me to set them and forget them til i hear chirping or see a hen walking threw my house with little fuzzies.

Oh and 2 more have hatched with a 3rd pipped and Ive got a whole nother set to move to the hatcher tonight before I crash out hehe

No Pips yet, although it's only day 19 so we have time. My last hatch was early, and it
makes me nervous all this waiting.

I am a frist times with a homemade incubator and three silkie eggs on there 11th day. This is what happens when your pregnant and bored lol So far every thing is coming along great, yesterday I saw movement in all three eggs and good looking air cells! My only problem is my eggs are do Christmas Eve. Think my boyfriend would understand skipping my first Christmas with his family to stay with hatching eggs?
