Here is our first ever hatched chick. I saw her pip and went about my chores and then 20 mins later my kids yelled to me "theres a chick theres a chick!" It was exciting. Today is day 20 and we have another pip.

I put 3 eggs into lockdown last nite. My hatcher is 98 and im having a time raising Humidity.Got 2 wet rags a cup of water and 2 goodsize bowls of water plus a wet sponge still havent gotten over 60% hope its enough.

I wouldnt remove the eggs and put them in the brooder either.But this is only my 2nd hatch. No expert here.
When i was a young girl my uncle hatched a few chicks in a card board box under a heat lamp. He incubated them in it to.They hatched so i guess it is possible.That was my first time seeing a chick hatch.I think i was 6.Im 37 now so it was quite a few yrs back.

8 have hatched out. 7 chickens & 1 bantam. Mostly black chicks again, so clearly my black lorp roo screws all my hens

17 left to go. multiple pips and zips.

On other news I'm looking for some more black lorp hens. I only have one currently but that needs to change... Guessing the rooster would wear out my lone hen in the breeding pen lol

Today is day 17 for me. Tomorrow night we go into lockdown. So excited for a better hatch this time. Candled for the first time last night and only 2 of my 8 show girls were unfertalized. Removed them and could see movement in all the rest. My 2 year old did some rearranging on day 6 so I was nervous! I do not have anything to measure humidity and have a hovabator. Should I add a few wet sponges just in case? Last hatch it took my chickens forever to fluff up...

Congrats MCF on all your chicks and pips.
I have 3 eggs in lockdown for christmas hatch. One of them has externly pipped this evening already. Maybe thats a good sign.

I have 4 hatd chicks and 2 pipped.. ALL black so far with white on the belly and tip of head. They are RIR mix... Maybe with Black Australorp?

None of the eggs were looking that great so I tossed all under my first time broody (she's 6 months old) ONE hatched so far. Their due date/time is today in an hour. She lets me hold it too she calms right down when i pick up the baby. I love it so much.
It I believe was from a green shell. I'm so so so so excited.

Waay more then 8 out now. Ill try to count later on when I'm not so blind lol (took my contacts out my eyes really needed a rest it'd been a while) Getting wifey to hopefully help me get the fodder trays in some sort of a rack. Seeds been soaking for 24 hrs now. so yay another project while the chicks hatch out lol
