Setting duck eggs on Saturday, 8/18 - Anyone wanna join? (Set by next Saturday for chicken eggs)

Do you have a store bought egg laying around? Pop it on there and compare. If they look different I'd say some development is occurring. Lol, weren't you waiting for day 5 to candle? I'm trying to make it to day 7 but I don't think I'll make it either

if it alright I will like to joinin I just set some chicken eggs on the 14th some cornix qual eggs on the 14th and some cornix quail eggs on the 17th this is my second time

Welcome to the group :D What kind of chicken eggs did you set? I can't wait to see pictures of all the little fuzzy butts!

Ya that was the plan but I had to check it to see if it worked........lol

Now I'm so tempted to do mine! But I'll try to hold off, lol. And with my silkie soon to be on eggs, I'll have some chick pictures to share right around some of the other hatches, too!

Hey Red, what did you make your incubator out of? It looks much more fancy than my little Styrofoam cooler incubator. I was looking back at the pictures of your kids turning the eggs and got curious.

The incubator is a dumpster special. It cost me $1.49 to make. Somebody threw out a igloo sportsman cooler cause it had a hole on the lid so I found a few picture frames in the dumpster and cut the hole out of the lid and made it a double pane window. Also found two lamps in the trash and used them. It will hold heat with one but 2 I have a fail safe incase a bulb burns out. Got the thromstat from a water heat and worked great but there was a 3 degree difference between coming on and shuting down then I drilled holes into the stat and now it's a 3 thenths of a degree difference. Found out how to fine tune the stat on you tube and it worked. Took an old PC fan and an old router I had laying around the house and got that working. So it came down to the bulbs which I dont have 40 watt bulbs so had to pay for those. I'm still trying to figure out a egg turner, still on the drawling board but the kids and I have so much fun turning them not sure I want them.

That's awesome! Mine cost me about $30, I think. I just made a water wiggler for it - it allows me to tell the actual internal temp of the eggs, which helps tremendously.
