Setting duck eggs on Saturday, 8/18 - Anyone wanna join? (Set by next Saturday for chicken eggs)

I set 19 duck eggs from Metzer Farms at 0800 on the 20th so I am a couple of days behind you. I ordered the mixed ducklings, so I don't really know what I will end up with. I'll join your hatch-along if you don't mind.

I have never raised or eaten quail. I would be interesting to try. Do they taste like chicken (everything else is supposed to)? I think the bobwhite quails are very cute!, but I would need a permit to raise those. I am not trying anything else new until I am out of college (but I have a long list of things I want to try then). I can't wait to see the variety of babies we will all hatch.
The Bob White Quail taste a lot like chicken and are a very light colored meat. I haven't tried the home raised Corturnix yet but they are supposed to be a little darker meat. They say the quail you get in restaurants is Corturnix and it is very good. My granddaughters favorite so she is really excited about this new adventure.

Sure, welcome! It'll be neat to have some more ducklings here! I wonder what you'll end up with?

Oh, and what kind of chicken eggs are you setting, or are they just mixed? We have a bunch of different breeds already.

Hey guys, I was thinking. Would you all mind posting what you are hatching and the expected hatch date? I wanna make a little chart in the second post so we can keep track and know when to expect pictures of little fuzzy butts!

Great news just candled my 12 eggs and 8 100% have something growing in them. 2 very good air sacks but couldnt see the chick and 2 dudes I think but I left them in till the next candle.
Also I have 7 Rhode Island Reds and 5 Wellsummer due Sept. 6th

Awesome! I candled mine tonight, too - I couldn't wait :) Out of 16, two have no development so I'm thinking they're infertile but we'll see. All the rest definitely have something going on, and for shipped eggs and a homemade incubator (and a first-time hatcher) I don't think that's half bad! Some seem to be farther along than the rest but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it :)
