It must be something in the air... my dog went on a spree last Friday and killed 8 of my 10 chickens :-( So, I sure am hoping for a good hatch!!! I just don't know what the heck I'm seeing when I candle, but I finally pulled 3 eggs on Saturday that I was SURE were not viable... thankfully, I was right. I have a few more that are iffy, and several that are such dark Marans eggs that I can't tell a thing.... One more silly noob question... for eggs set on 1/19, do we count the 1/19 as day 1, or the 20th? When is "day 18"? Thanks![]()
Yes, 24 hrs after the time you set them on the 19 will be day 1. So if you set them 6pm on 19. Then 6pm on day 20 is day 1.
I'm sorry to hear about your lost. Bad doggie!!! Like my button quail. I was hoping hard that these eggs would hatch as I have lost the mother who were laying these eggs. So I'm happy and excited to announce that all have hatched and are drying in the bator right now. One was faced the opposite direction and needed assistance due to not being able to zipp in that position.
Yay! Seems like one has taken up the whole space of the air sack. I put the egg to my ear for a listen... and I hear some tapping, yay! Hopefully it's that the lil bugger is trying come our into the world.
Such an awesome feeling! It's so exciting. @_@ the weekend can't get here soon enough!! My four all appear to be doing fantastic...lively little things. I see them constantly moving inside the shell.
