Setting Eggs 12/27 Anyone else?

I don't know what you mean by a humidity pad, but I have good luck just adding a damp dish towel or wash cloth. I just lay it along the side of the incubator. If you place it near a vent you can re wet it without opening the incubator depending on what type you have. Good luck!!!

I have a sportsman 1502 cabinet and in the top by the fans there is a pan that holds the water when you go into lock down you are suppose to add this "pad" that is suppose to help raise the humidity.. well it didn't work.. but i closed off the other plug on the side so now they both are closed and one 1 plug in the back is opened.. then I added that said humidity pad in with the existing 2 regular large sponges then in the hatcher tray I added a plastic bowl with another bowl inside it full of sponges to help give the eggs a little moisture and hopefully prevent the peeps from drowning... I sure hope this works!! My humidity is now up to 70%

i sure it holds humidity for lock down.. considering we are due on Wednesday!! I sure do have alot to learn about this bator!! much different than the lg still air I have used before...

I go into lock down tomorrow. So, that means I officially get to ~~~ get ready tonight. That's always fun. Just knowing that you are getting them ready. Sad thing is, I only have two viable now..at least I think. The blue eggs are so hard to see through, but the air sacs are so big up the sides on the others, we will see.
Tonight, I put some liner down, then the eggs down on their sides out of the turner. Then watch the humidity until I get it where I want it. I don't worry that the temp is lower at this point, they just need to be warm enough, 99.8 is even fine. So, thinking I will try my dry incubator like someone else mentioned to hatch them. Just get the humidity up, and wait. I guess a dry incubator helps keep the humidity more stable.

Mine were due the 17th although I think I threw a few in there after we started so a couple of mine could hatch later this week.

I peeked in there and the first one is all out and resting and the second one is starting to peep! Can't see any peeps on the shipped eggs but we are all waiting with our breaths held! Kids and I have had our noses on the incubator all morning!

Yay! Keep us posted

Well, I put mine on lockdown on day 16. Yes, I know, to early. Well, here it is day 18 and I have two pips and four rockers! These eggs are notorious for hatching on day 19... ;) If you are wondering, they are bantam Cochins. Eighteen of the original 24 made it to lockdown. Not bad for shipped eggs. Now, I hope all 18 hatch.

Go Rey!! I hope all 18 hatch for you.

I have six pips so far one is starting to zip. I might wake up to a few chicks in the bator. Mine are also bantam cochins, but today was day 20 for me. I can't wait to see these babies, I am dying to see what colors they are, my one Christmas cochin was lighter usual for a partridge. I wonder how these will compare. Well, I am off to bed, I have to go to work far to early in the morning.

Ok people! Thoughts please! I have 15 in the hatcher! 5 or 6 were rocking and wiggling! I now see nothing! Soooo..... I candled (very quickly) and all are moving inside the egg! Day 21 starts at midnight! Not a single one has pipped! They all still look very veiny! Is that normal this late in the cycle? Shouldn't the veins be gone by now?

P.S. - my temps have been perfectly stable for the whole cycle at 99.5 and my humidity was awesome throughout days 1 - 18 at 35% - 45%, hatcher temps same and humidity is kinda stuck at 63%

This is the hard part. Last year mine never did a thing until day 21, and they usually hatched late on day 21 and early on day 22. If they were moving, they are still OK. No, the viens don't disappear until after they pip, That's why it is so important that you not help to soon or they can bleed out because you break a vein. Good Luck!!!!

Well, three noisy peeps are out this morning. I should have three more pips in there, but they have rolled eggs and I can only see two. They haven't been out very long, because they are still very wet. These look darker than my other partridge chick, I am glad to see. I have hope of getting some decent babies.
