Setting Eggs 3/10 or 3/11 - Join Me?

Day 12: just candled for the second time, and all 28 are full of chicks! Here's hoping they all make it out in less than 9 days (eeps!).

3/31 is coming up rather quickly!

set ours on the 11th... Dual purpose mutts... out of 36 eggs originally set, we are down to 34 as of last sunday (one dud, one dead) .. looking forward to the first.... waiting sucks

I had a speckled sussex hen go broody, so I decided to give her the eggs I had in the incubator that I set on March 9th. Since they are eggs from my own flock, it won't be terrible if they don't hatch...but I sure hope they do. If they do, they'll have a momma hen to keep them warm and to show them the ropes! This is my first time hatching with a broody hen, so we'll see!

I just let my first broody have some eggs to hatch as well!

Well, we are getting close to lockdown, how are everyone's eggs? I am going to candle again before lockdown on Thursday night.

Just did my 1st candle Day 16, for my 15 Midget White turkey eggs, all are solid with a nice air cell except one is obviously clear. With clears should I remove the egg and toss it or give it a little more time ?
Turkey eggs are 28 day to hatch, so if all goes has planned Day 25 for me is April 6th, I am moving the eggs that day to a hovabator that I'll have setup as a hatcher.

Will post pictures once I see the little midgets

I just found this thread, and I'm going to join along.

I put in my eggs on March 10. Today makes day 18, and there is lots of rocking going on in the incubator!

My last hatch had two babies that didn't make it. I hatched 4 thriving ones, but those two broke my heart, and I thought I'd put my incubator away for a while.

But I'm back at it again. These chicks are for a friend, and I have a dozen in there staggered to hatch next week from another friend of mine. I'll be keeping those ones.

Good luck everyone!

I went out of town for a couple of days and returned to find my broody hen had died. She didn't eat or drink much at all while she was on the nest...so I am guessing that she died from starvation or dehydration. I hate it that this happened. When I got back the eggs were cold, so I put them in the incubator but I don't have much hope.

I learn with each failure...though I am not sure I could have prevented this.

I am not sure if my eggs will hatch at all, on day 16 we lost power for 5 1/2 hours, the temp inside my two incubators got down to 75 even though I had double wrapped in heavy blankets. I took all the eggs in the bators over to a friends house and put them in her big Sportsman. Was suppose to go into lockdown today but figured I would wait till one extra day because of what happened. I also had another 48 eggs in the bators due April 7th. All I can do is wait and see and start all over again.

Oh, I'm so sorry.
