Setting Eggs 4/17! Who's With Me?

This was to be the 21st day. But I think this is the last day of hatching instead of the first. Over the past 3 days we have watched 28 eggs hatch.

I started with 42 in the incubator. By day 10 I took out 11 that didn't develop. Last night the 28th egg hatched and I candled the three remaining eggs and saw no movement. I'm not sure how much movement you would see at this stage, but I'm thinking they died.

So if you consider after day 10 I had 31 eggs and only 3 didn't make it, that is 90% hatch rate for my first time!!!

ETA: I am thinking of doing another 42 eggs next week.

Would I be able to add newborns to 3 week olds?

I wouldn't add newborns to 3 week olds .. but some people might.

I have 2 MF D'uccles (cute littel boogers), and one Fav .. the other fav pipped and died in the egg. This morning one of my BCM's was pipped. It's been a rough 21 days .. I'm surprised any of them made it ..

Are my duck eggs supposed to be wiggling around already? We are on day 21. Last night I candled and couldnt see much other than veins by the air cells, the eggs are very full and dark... then this morning when I was talking to them one started jumping all over. I thought that day 21 was a bit early...

before i left for work this morning (about 7:40am) i checked the eggs. I had the beginning of a pip on cochin egg #6!!! just a tiny little L shaped crack. very exciting! only i have to wait another 7 hours before i can go home... AAHHG!

I think our hatch is over. I had 2 hatch day 21, 6 hatch day 22. It's day 23 no pips. I'm keeping them all in though because I have two duck eggs still to go. This was sooo much fun

I'm almost afraid to say anything because I dont' want to jinx myself.

I heard peeps from the bator this morning. No pips yet. I was just thinking to myself that it's been such an awful time this go-round that I wouldn't even be surprised if none of them made it. Then I heard the peeping.

Crossing my fingers at least a few make it.

We started with 6 eggs, three were quitters and one just disappeared. Here are some pics of the two that made it. One hatched last night and the other hatched just now. I hope my little girl is a good momma, this is her first time.
They are white silkie chicks
