setting eggs 5/10.

Miss Giggles! I am so sorry!!

Went to school yesterday to check out son's hatch and one chick dying, stuck to floor of incubator bleeding and being pecked by 3 hatch mates. It looked like a cull to me, It peeped the whole way home strongly, I soaked it in warm water, slathered it in antibiotic ointment and gave it some infant vitamins. I popped it into the incubator here which is supposed to be on lockdown. You know that thing kept me up all night? Yes, incubator is in bedroom, bad idea. But other than NO fluff, it looks pretty good. Peeping, hopping around, and terrorizing the chicks that are trying to hatch.

Also.... I hear peeping under my broody!!! Yay! One of the other hens kept climbing in the box with her, so I threw her out and shut up the coop to give broody some privacy. There's going to be an egg hunt tonight!.

One more kid to get off to school and then I'll try to post pics.

So sorry Ms Giggles. Hope your other chicks get better.
WE have 5 hatched so far out of 8.

When I finally went to be we had 4. At 2 we had one with a hole big enough to get it's beak out and part of its head. A nickel? Then at 6 we have 5 hatchlings but not the one with the 2 am hole. It's going on 9am and it's still that way. The other birds keep rolling it over, poor thing. I may help it soon, since I can't stand it!
One egg may be gone. We thought it was bad yesterday and went to check and found the tiniest hole in the bottom. Later my neighbor noticed blood in it.
It does have a fully matured bird inside. :-(

this is a pic of the only one that has the dark brown strip all the way down his head and back(the one in the middle)

well I almost got all 15 one got out of screen just when I pressed the button.
You can tell our wyndottes from the rest. we also have 2 that have fuzzy feet and little red one and a pale yellow one. neither have the bearding like the other red one. So far so good. Today makes day 21 and we still have 5 in the bator. I may try to candle them to make sure they are still alive. Going to try and move the chicks to the other brooder sometime today. the room I have them in is really starting to smell with that many birds in there.

4 hatched at son's school, 2 under broody and 3 here. I have one that is zipped but REALLY struggling. Only 2 Orps and they are both black. Boo.

Here is my little sicky, (white Marans) he's looking much better today, but I can NOT get him to fluff. Tried scrubbing him off with Dawn Detergent, it did not work. He's got a hatchmate still in the bator in the same condition.

Sorry about you're birds msgiggles. I have 14 out of the 15 that made it to lockdown. I have one egg left. I'm going to give it a few more days scence they weren't due till today. Congratulations to everyone on their new fuzzy butts.

final count 15 live and seemingly healthy, 3 died after hatch, eggtopsyed the last 5 and had 3 late stage srink wrap, 2 lockdown quitters. im thinking something wrong with either the shells, or parentage. hens and roos way to closely related. Not quite sure what was the problem. I moved the rest to the big brooder outside about 3pm today and so far they are still doing good.

Oh my goodness that one in the second picture on the bottom right is ADORABLE. Well, they all are. :) Congrats! :)

5 out of 8 survived hatch. 3 looked to be shrink wrapped. So I have 3 Silkies (1 with PINK skin instead of dark) and 2 Ameraucunas. Now I'm waiting on 6 Lemon Cuckoo Orps that are in lock down.

My eggs hatched Thursday through to Saturday (1 each day). I've ended up with only two chicks because the first one died. He had a bad hatch - inside the shell was quite bloody and I think he might have torn his yolk sac. But still, two is better than nothing :)
