Setting eggs on 6/9 and 6/11 who else? Come join in :)

Well most of my eggs go on lock down in the AM and the other ones I set on the 11th so they will go on lock down on the June 28th. I will candle all in the am also to see how many make it into the lock down. So I will update all in the morning when I get everything done.

Hi everyone, I was looking for a hatch along for a setting on the weekend of the 9th. Can I join? I set 9 dark Brahma eggs on the 9th. I candled on the 15th and had 4 questionable and 5 developing. Candled again on the 22nd and had 5 eggs with little bouncing babies. Working on my LF Brahma collection. Dark variety will make 6 varieties that I have. Mine will go into lockdown on the 27th.

My last hatch I had to help 2 out, 24 hours went by after the 3 others had pipped and hatched. There was a small pipped crack in the eggs and the babies had stopped peeping so I candled and made a larger hole into the air cell, I could see a beak in the air cell. I opened the air cell and could see the babies were shrink wrapped. I opened the egg the same as if the baby was zipping the egg. Had to moisten the membrane that was all dried out using clean swabs and warm water and gently peel it away from the babies head. I worked slowly putting the egg back in the bater and covering it with a moist folded paper towel. I would only keep the egg out less than 2 minutes at a time as I worked and put it back in the bater to maintain the temp. I got the head and neck out and then put them both back to rest and gain strength. I left them to struggle the rest of the way out of the shell. This worked so well and I saved both babies that would have soon died.

I know people say not to help but I figured what do I have to lose, they were definitely fading fast. I am so happy I did help but also let them do some of the work getting out. They are strong healthy babies.

I had a bad morning today and it kept getting even more bad for me. I had some baby chicks die on me and I took it really had with the first 2 that I found this morning sorry for not coming back on here this am like I said I would. I didn't even candle mine I just through them all in but 4 I had taken out before so we will see. I hope 4 a better day in the am. It is going to be in the 90's in morning and next day over 100 here. All my baby's might be in the shaded run if it is to hot for then in there brooder. I have save a chick life dink all ready for them and I change there waters all though the day. I did all the changing of bedding in the coops today busy busy never stops. My 3 year old daughter helped though.Did my garden by watering that by hand for one hour fun! Now time to go to bed. Sleep tight all sweet dreams.

I'm so sorry you lost your babies. Its going up into the 100's here by Friday. Hope your day is better today. My 5 remaining eggs will go into lockdown tonight!

I set twelve to hatch on the 10th, lost one and am down to eleven. It's my first time and very excited for my girl to be a mama. I had six Lavender Orpingtons and six Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. Like I said, I'm down one but not sure which breed. I like surprises. :) Anyway, very much looking forward to the babies. Pictures to follow...
