Out of the 8 eggs Picanins sent me, 2-3 look like air sacks detached. They are now incubating.

And just wait until its hatch day, 1stTimeChikMama! Then you'll be counting down the minutes, especially when they've pipped xD Its always best when they pip overnight and you come out to a new chick!

Not only that but your nose is pressed to the window for hours on end. I like the over nighters too. I usually wake up to them just coming out of the shell.

Had a bit of a scare yesterday, when our broody hen was leaving her separate hutch she knocked a few of the eggs out of the nest! Since it's floor level they just rolled a little, but I'll candle the eggs later tonight and see how they're going. Hopefully they're doing good!

It's just good that I'm okay with having no social life for a while as I don't think I will be going ANYWHERE around that time!

DAY 14 (Barnyard mix) - All 10 growing, looking good. Chucked the Delaware

DAY 11 ?(Super Blues) - after day 7 I threw out four which were not viable. All 12 growing so well. I love these eggs coz candling is so fun - you can see right through
So I have a total of 22 eggs in bator doing well on Days. 11 & 14

Sorry about the Delaware. I know you were looking so forward to that one.
I just love when you can see right through them. Makes life so much easier. Both sets of eggs I have in now are like that. Last hatch those Marans were really hard until Day 10.

First day
16 hours - first sign of resemblance to a chick embryo
18 hours - appearance of alimentary tract
20 hours - appearance of vertebral column
21 hours - beginning of nervous system
22 hours - beginning of head
24 hours - beginning of eye

Second day
25 hours - beginning of heart
35 hours - beginning of ear
42 hours - heart beats

Third day
60 hours - beginning of nose
62 hours - beginning of legs
64 hours - beginning of wings

Fourth day - beginning of tongue

Fifth day - formation of reproductive organs and differentiation of sex

Sixth day - beginning of beak

Eighth day - beginning of feathers

I just love when you can see right through them. Makes life so much easier. Both sets of eggs I have in now are like that. Last hatch those Marans were really hard until Day 10.

Guess he is a total optimist!!But 12 is like REALLY far out on what will hatch!.I have only seen about 2 ppl on here in 6 months who got 11 of 12 or just a couple that didnt. I had 4 that didnt a few hatches ago got 10 ...out of 8 hatches. My Others were 0,0, 1,5,3,5,10 and 0 (last one iddint rreall ywatch the humsity sort of burning out on hatching so could have been me, or not. Maybe you'll 10 if its a SUPER hatch.More likely yes.... 4-6 most ppl on here consider that a good hatch with shipped. from 12 eggs.

First, secound, and last hatch was zero!!! that's not cool. Oh boy if that happen to me i wouldn't never hear the end of it from my hubby about told you so....
